yea, so who races here (either with school or not)

i race just because i can get to the mountain during the week...im not all gung ho on the racing part...but at least im skiing

I raced for BBSRA for a couple of years and then tore up my knee. So now I just race for the school, but the people that set up the courses are so stupid that it is not even fun to race so I get DQ alot because I end up going Switch that shit is so fun. So they post or times in the school hall and im always at the bottom expect for one time i came in 2nd when i tried so everyone thinks I suck.

I race for fun in a drinking league for the exposure to gates, it definately has some technical advantages, and is a good way to improve your overall skiing.

i loved racing back in the day, it taught me fundamentals of skiing so i am not a gaper wandering aimlessly through the park, and i can get out on tother parts of the mountain also

I race on our little outcast high school team. we get free passes for $182.80. and coaches. race team can suck but you can get a lot better all around skier with the right coach. We did almost nothing but the all mountain for our practises.

I am so thankful I did racing, for the 6 or 7 yrs I did it my abilities skyrocketed. The last 2 yrs i raced I went to state and my skiing as a whole improved. i went from 3s and 5s in the park to backs, smooth grabbed 7s, and everything. Skiing in Whistler and Hood changed dramatically as well. Whenever i ski I still think about everything I learned in racing, pressure on the outside ski, bent knees, lean forward, hands in front, eyes down the hill. it helps so much and makes you an incredibly more talented skier. It is always easy to pick out park rats on the hill who havent had any racing background, they look like little kids the way they ski with their arms at their sides and leaning back and all. For those of you who say racing is gay...i feel bad for you because you are the ones I am looking at and laughing at while i ski.

I was never on a team, but I have entered two races and won them both because of my radness, actually I only won 1 of them because I skied the second one fakie and got disqualified.

I used to race to get out of school. Our team sucked, so we spent most of the day poaching the pipe (before we were allowed to be there). Maybe that's why we sucked so much...

Anyways, thanks to being on a race team, I learned mute 3's in the pipe.

the race team at our hill is actually a mob of awful skiers. I see them snowplowing down the moguls in an attempt to get to the race course during practice. One time one of the kids was yelling shit at us cause we were riding twins, so I cussed him out and he tried to chase me down and couldn't keep up...he was also the top racer on the team...sad huh? I wish the racers at our hill were as good as what I hear about from you folks.

racing is fukin gay!!!!!! period unless its super g or downhill which are fukin sick becasue u need so much guts to do them and these 2 disiplines require such skill. GS, and slalom are fukin gay who gives a shit how fast u can go round some gay fukin gates, and all these racers that say there such good skiers are full of shit they may be able to ski but the majority of them have the shitest style when they ski big mountain or anywhere on the hill guys like mckonckey are fukin sick skiers but have no style when they ski big mounatin, shit look at kent krietler hes as sick skier but his style is fucked, he looks lke hes snowplowing down big alaskian faces sure it works but they have o style wat so eva. If u want tosee smooth big mounatin style look at guys likecandide hes big mounatin style is so sick he flows down the mountain like water so does morrision both ex mogul skiers so if u wanna become a truley good skier with good style do moguls, sure they both raced before morrision and candide but moguls gave them style.. also as I said before racing is gay, and for fat little rich american kids, and chicks with fat asses,

true that, ski racing was fun back in the day before the newschool scene came into action, but it truly did help many skiers become what they are today,for me personally the passion for arcing around gates to shave milliseconds off your time for years and years rubs off in the progressional scheme of things

speed races are the fucking shit... nuf said. theres nothing like the feeling of launching off a roller at 60 in the back seat and landing on your head. racing makes for some good times and a good reason to miss lots of school. wouldnt have traded my hardcore racing years for anything... except having started earlier so i might be getting a bit for free stuff now....

Yo moguls barron, you don't know what you are talking about. Racing does improve you skiing amazingly, style has nothing to do with the discipline that you ski, its about your personal way of skiing. There is no 'right' or 'cool' style, as it is of personal preference. I don't race, as i don't really enjoy it, but i did for a few years and although it wasn't as fun as bumps, it helped my skiing loads. Without racing i probably would'nt have been as good at bumps as i was.

Racing = free passes and fine tunes your skiing. it's fun to just be a jerk racing, go inverted and even though you schooled every other competitor you are still disqualified.
