Buy First Video Camera

All right, so within the next week I am going to buy my first camera for this winter. Since the searchbar sucks, I wasnt able to find that many good threads that gave me the info i wanted. Alright so basically I want you guys to recommend me some cameras based on what you think is best.

I am not sure what format to get whether it be MiniDV or flash as from experiance I do not know whats best.

I am willing to spend up to $600 no more

I am most likely thinking of buying from bhphotovideo.com but if you guys have any different suggestions then I am open for that.

Canon HV20, but B&H doesn't sell it anymore, just the HV30, which is $200 more and the only significant difference is the 30p mode versus the 24p mode on the HV20. Both are MiniDV, which for skiing is better than flash.

The HV30 is running around 730ish dollars right now, but its definitely worth it if your computer can handle the big files. I edit hd on a 2.4 GHz Intel Cor 2 Duo, 2 GB of ram, and i bought a Terabyte external.

If this doesn't sound like what you want, the panasonic GS320, GS400 or GS500 should be around your price range, and they're all great standard def cameras.

PS, stay away from sketch sites with unbelievably low prices. Stick to BHphoto.
