ok well i think dumonets is far more impressive... his is measured from the lip, rather than from the ground, if it was from the ground he would have it at what 70+ feet? im not saying that this isnt impressive, but i think dumont hit it with way more style, especially considering he didnt use a motor to get his speed

Ummm, nope!  Look at all the fatasses that make it to the pros and are succesfull.  There aren't any chubby dudes in the upper ranks of motorcross. 


Also about the hight stick thing, the top of his take off is lower than the deck of the landing.  I don't know if that difference is 25 feet but I'm  pretty sure they aren't gonna lie.

I am 100% sure that the more athletic person would come out of baseball rather then any motor sport. yah there are some chubby fellas, but no chubbier then a nascar driver. some baseball players are in serious shape dude, could kick your ass for sure. baseball players have to be so quick on there feet and rocket a ball at incredible rates of speed and distances. I bet you couldn't even make a clean throw from third to first in a real game. -yes thats a period.

and its still not a q-pipe people, damn.

how long does a baseball player have to sustain maximal movement? the longest would be the sprint around all the bases right? how long does that take? lets say 30 seconds at the slowest. compare that to ONE moto where guys have to sustain TOTAL body movement for ten minutes. muscling around a 300 pound machine, constantly using every muscle in their body and that's just a moto. theres usually 2-3 motos in one race. thats not including the nationals guys, or the endurance racers where the longest race last a week. when was the last time you heard of a baseball player needing surgery because his muscles outgrew the thin layer of skin that surrounds the muscle to keep it in place? oh never thats right. whereas thats a common surgery in quad racing. baseball players can throw a ball real far, impressive. so cant that six ft. 16 year old kid. face it baseball is a joke concerning all other forms of professional athleticism. try to find one "cubby fella" in all of professional moto or quad racing. you wont because they all quit and went to baseball.

dude your knowledge is off the mark. people get cut from their baseball team, because after little league not everyone makes it. then they do something else that requires less skill, like driving a motorized machine.

uhhhh aparently you live under or on a rock and havent seen barry bonds arms, lets compare his to a moto dudes. or any other baseball player for that matter. you have to be in top condition to run for the ball, or around the bases even if its just 360 feet, or 100 feet to catch a fly ball.

so you are also saying that 100 meter dash , 100 meter hurdles people arent athlettes either. you are about as smart as a 5th grader.

ever hear of the olympics? the epicenter of sports. correct me if im wrong, i dont think there is a motorized activity in the olympics, moto x isnt a sport. a sport is when u use human power to accompolish something, not iranian gold.

any retard with half a brain can do a couple push ups, pull the throttle and learn a trick into some stupid foam pit because if they bail they will break something. give it up moto x and motorized activities arent sports. go watch nascar.

There are some chubby guys in baseball, but I guarantee they could still out run / sprint almost any motocross / ski / snowboard athlete.  They are still amazing athletes.  Most pitchers from high school through the major leagues run multiple miles daily just to prevent injury and so they can throw longer.  There are a few lazy baseball players just like you will have with any sport, but there is a ton of work that goes to prepare for a game / season.  I played up untill 2 years ago and the only time I had off was 3 weeks in December.  Skiing was a joke of a workout compared to anything that I did with baseball.  I don't ever look at skiing as a workout or training (as some pros call it now), I just see it as the most fun thing to do.  I don't agree with athletes quitting moto and turning to baseball.  I guarantee almost everyone who reads this quit baseball (including myself ) because they couldn't cut it at some level not because it was easier or it just wasnt fun anymore.  If baseball was easy, they wouldn't pay people several million dollars a year to play it.  I agree that the moto guys must be in good shape to sustain their bikes for several minutes during a race. 

In my opinion, the motocross jump was sick, but I think Dumont's was a lot more impressive since he had to go out of a quarterpipe and spun.

baseball fills up stadiums nightly, say there are 10 games a night each stadium holds like 20000 people thats about 200000 people nightly that attend live baseball. i dont see at all how its a joke. at all. baseball is a team sport. each member of the team adds something different to the whole.

i can almost garuntee you have never even been 55mph on skis. and for the title of this thread trying to take away from dumont and half the people that responded, dude with a MOTOR could NOT

A. hit a QP
B. get more air than dumont on skis. no motor
C. do a 900 grab to stomp

and second we were talking about ahtleticism, not who has thier muscles popping out of thier body, wtf! a baseball player is more of an ahtlete compared to someone who sits in a car or on a four wheeler all day, sorry. thats why its a recognized professional SPORT, unlike anything that has to do with a motor.

it takes way more skill to be a ball player. there aren't any 16 year olds in professional baseball. most people would crack trying to hit a baseball going more then 80-90mph in a stadium full of people all with thier eyes on YOU, not your car, not your motorcyle, not your monstertruck.

there are way more fat people in moto sports my friend, sorry. maybe not motorcycles, but motor sports in general. I have respect for all those guys, specially that italian who kills in on a crotch rocket, and the american. but those guys still don't have as much skill and go through as much training to become a pro league player. anybody can hold down a throttle dude.

Haha.  I went to a whole seminar at my school present by the Exercise Science Dept. about athletes and they said that some of the fittest athletes in the world are supercross and motocross riders.

Baseball athletes were definitely not up there.

and i disagree with the fact that moto x dudes would be in the best shape of any athlete. there is this competition called iron man. may have heard of it. 100 mile run, 50 mile bike, 5 mile swim. takes a little more of an athlete to do that than burn 5 gallons of gas in a moto.

I suggest you educate yourself in the world of actual sports.

its not like the MLB is a big deal or anything. a joke to the rest of the world? then why are so many countries establishing teams and leagues for kids to play. and why are teams drafting players from all over the world in many foriegn countries. yah and the yankees, red soxs, or people like jose canseco have no recognition.

not to mention there are more people playing and following baseball then you can.

p.s. I think a more constructive use of time would be playing a real sport with your friends then simply burning gas.


and to stay on subject, simon owns all those motor whatever rider/enthusiats. skiing into an icy fuckin massive qp and doin a 900 is baller. even though that whip was nasty.

You baseball fan boys are a bunch of retards. How is baseball a more constructive use of time then riding a dirtbike? I guess you could argue that baseball is much less destructive than tearing up the dirt with knobby tires, but you would also have to consider the resources wasted on maintaining a field. To excell to the top in any "sport" takes talent or showmanship, I'd say breaking the height record on anything requires both. While you can debate who's more athletic, baseball players or dirtbike riders, it's pretty clear which reqiures more balls. ..."but, but, but, baseballs are pitched fast."

to 3., as an unbiased observer, who somewhat agrees with both sides, that is just plain wrong.

and to whoever said something about baseball not taking balls, try standing in the batters box with a curve  coming straight at your face at 85 mph. 1000's of eyes on you.

on the other side of the argument, i agree that moto takes a lot of endurance and strength. but that endurance and strength only has to last you one race. in baseball it may be short bursts, but in a 162 game season, the wear and  tear is rediculous. the season lasts from march until september, and a team plays 5 to seven games a week. and days off? thes days are spent  spent traveling often long distance, where little if any rest is had.

and i will freely admit that i know little about motorsports, but i think that in the end both sports are very tough in their own ways and are  too different to accurately compare, but each deserve respect.
