Most OverHyped pro skier in your opinion?

I'm going to go with Peter Olenick. the dude still hasn't done anything to make hiw whisky flip more consistat, doesn't seem like he's had a good segment in a few years. Over all the dude needs to lay of the partying and step it up. Not saying he's a bad skier at all, just would like to see him back where he used to be.

Who do you all think is the most OverHyped?

i don't see why people are not stoked on this thread, i'd say it's quite called for...
if you're filming with poor boyz, and you can only come up with a repetitive segment containing the same ugly ass cork 7 tickled tail grabs, weak handrails, and prison shower steez (or lack thereof) misty 5s, then you deserve to get shit on..

Noone is overrated, they have all done shit to get to where they are, underrated is either laurent favre or i think charles gagnier. He doesn't seem to get the credit he should, like winning us open big air last year with the sw 10 octo. sick stuff

Holy shit.

How about winning basically every single event she enters, dominating the girls contest scene for years, pushing girls progression by throwing 1260s in the WSI big air, and massive 1080s in the pipe.

Also, winning ESPY awards (beating out surfers, skateboarders, snowboarders), being awarded the X-Games "athlete of the games" title, etc., etc.

That's not "pro skier worthy"?

This thread is lame, just another hatefest.

maybe they helped designing the product you are using.

Saying guyz like pete O did nothing for the sport is stupid.

A bunch of kids are rocking obermeyer stuff and believe me, without pete O on their team, I bet ya 100$ that they wouldnt make anything as baggy as you guyz like.

i thought this was about skiing...not what they do for their sponsors. i couldn't give a fuck about peter olenick's obermeyer clown suits. i think that stuff looks goofy as hell, and i'm even a fan of baggy clothes.
and i doubt he had much input on ANY skis, seeing as his salomon "pro model" was just the 1080 with a different topsheet.

but either way, what i'm talking about is the skiing, isn't that what we're doing? how can you have so many sponsors helping you out, and yet you still produce the most boring video segments, and competition runs? i know kids who will outski the shit out of the olenicks, with much less support from anyone at all, even friend, that would LOVE to be in their position of mediocrity in the limelight and have the opportunities he has. i was even a pete o fan when he first started to break into the scene, at the us open back in the day. i was stoked on his run, but it seems as though he's fallen off.
or something?
i don't even know what we're really talking about anymore.

i dont get the whole "colby is overrated" thing here. he was the first to hit that joss jump switch, he throw a zero over it, how many people can zero that thing?

and overall he is one of the best.

the most overhyped pro might be both olenicks. they shouldnt get such segments with those tricks that they lay down

I get your point and understand what you mean.

I just believe that there is WAY more then being a good skier to be a professionnal atheletes.

Some pro skiers are definatly having a hard timefollowing with the trickery and insanity of the  youngster and that is evolution.  I only think that as long as the pro accomplish what his sponsor AND himself want to accomplish, he is not overhyped.

no i dont think everyone is gay for him he is def not overated first he is not on a huge team 4frnt isnt that big and he is amazing at park and alright at pow even tho he doesnt ski it that much for example the toto edit but if he is in the next xgames even tho the xgames are overhyped and not that sick but if he is in it he will kill at slope

so why are we hating on pro skiers?  They are good at what they do and you should respect everyone of them.  Doesnt mean you dont have to like them.
For instance i dont care for sean white, but doesnt mean i dont respect the fact that he slays at snowboarding.

You guys all hate on peter and his JOSS shit when the fact is 90% of you would never even come close to hitting some of those features let alone pulling the kind of stuff hes pulling of them.  His underflip 5's are so fucking clean and stylish, and hes pulling that shit off a 90 ft kicker...  How many of you would even hit say the JOI jump or that 90ft stepdown switch and pull a super smooth switch 9/7? 

Peter is a pro for a reason and if hes fading like so many of you say he is than why is he still getting movie segments, why does he still have sponsors (monster soloman and obermeyer which are HUGE sponsors), and why is he still a fucking pro? 

You guys can sit here and talk a bunch of shit about people when you have no idea what it takes to be in their position.  The next time in a video segment you see someone do a rail, jump or bc jump, and pull a trick that you dont think is that great, just stop for a second and think about it.  Look at how big their going, how technical the shit is they're doing, how much skill it takes to pull off the shit they do. 

Just cause you see 16yr olds in the park every fucking day throwing sw 9s and doubles doesnt mean there better than the pros.  You guys just have no fucking clue what your talking about.

most underrated is Trevor Hiatt, you guys have noooooooo idea how good the guy is in the BC, and he can do all 4 sevens in the park even though he never ski's it anymore.....

Batman is WAAAYYY TOOO OVERRATED, I mean, if it wasn't for all his money, he wouldn't be a superhero.

But one that is Underrated is Inspector Gadget. I mean, the guy is acting dumb and people think he is but he still manages to save the world ! I think that in fact he is really intelligent but he acts dumb so that his enemies think he is but when he uses one of his gadgets, THEY'RE FUCKED !!! HAHAHAHA

while i do agree Mik is super sick and one of the steeziest skiers i have ever seen, i really doubt he could have placed in slope at x games this past season

i dont get why ths thread HAS to die. i mean, its a usual thing in sports to talk about good and about bad performances. most of the people brought several arguments to give reasons for their opinions. if a pro isnt skiing on the level he was in relation to other guys at top and hes now definitely not in this shape, i HAVE to be allowed to mention that.

its not like "huuh its a pro", lets put a gloriole around his head no matter what he shows.

and my skiing ability is NOT corresponding to my ability of watching contests & film segments and seeing who rips it and who not. if you put it this way, you're kinda saying: "tanner is the only guy in skiing that is allowed to criticise others".
