Replying to Jon Olsson Super Sessions = Epitomy of skiing progression
We truly need more people like Jon in this sport. The JOSS is all about the future and trying things that wouldn't normally be attempted in competition format. Jon is opening new doors to the future of the sport. Its undeniable that the JOSS has a ton of money to make things happen. In the future, if skiers, sponsors and organizers can come together to create progressive competitions the sport will go in a direction that we can all truly be excited about.
I'm reminded of Winterton's Underground Slopestyle comp back in either '00 or '01 at Mount Snow; except the JOSS is on a much grander scale. The event was all about getting everyone on the East Coast together to throw down for an unconventional competition that was more about community than walking away with a big cardboard check. Prizes were minimal, but appreciation from your peers was truly an honor that couldn't be matched. The kids that were getting recognized back in the day in that comp are still killing it on the scene today.
I don't really know what the point of this thread was. But I'd just like to say this was an officially a rant about how ski events are today and how they should be tomorrow. WE need to change the future of the sport, let's not sit around and wait to see how some cum sucker at the FIS would like to see it done. Huge props to people like 382 who are throwing their own shit because they aren't satisfied with how things are being done these days.
