Why are irish people so proud?

Has Ireland actually done anything? Really... anything?

I'm just saying this cause I know I'll be super aggravated in a couple weeks on St. Patricks day when everyone claims to be Irish and acts like I should fucking care.

and benedetto, i don't see what any of them have to be proud of. the fact that their great great great great grandparents came over on a boat? that's stupid, i don't get why people cling onto a tiny thread of heritage. unless you're a Carnegie or something, there isn't much to boast about in terms of immigration status.

not everyone is like that. your not cool because your a citizen of another country. obvsiously we're all american and citizens...so what if people are proud. they have a right to be proud. i know what you mean and i hate those kids too but your bragging because your scotish or scottish or whatever and think no one is as good as you. LOL                 every single one of my grandparents were off the boat. my dad had to learn english through public school. my parents lived old fashioned in little neighborhoods in the bronx, ny. and  i'm not telling everyone to shut the fuck. so you shut the fuck up

when rome fell, the irish went in and recovered their literature and recopied it, which in many ways saved hundreds of years of progress. the classical literature and information they recorded later helped spark and support the renaissance, which ignited intellectual thought and established many social norms across europe, leading to the reformation, and following that, the enlightenment, the birthplace of most of today's modern philosophies.

i don't know if st patrick's day has anything to do with that, though.

I also hate St. Patrick's day. On that day I intentionally wear my Dutch national soccer jersey to let people know that I am not "Irish" or embracing of their culture.
