Or his plan to spend over a billion dollars creating eco friendly "green collar" jobs that could generate a maximum of $1 million in revenue? And I never said Bush wasn't a big spender. Bush could out spend most democrats which is why i stated in an earlier post that we need a third party to rise.

A public insurance program is still socializing our medical system... Here is more stuff straight from his website: "Obama will expand eligibility for the Medicaid and SCHIP programs" "Obama will require that providers that participate in the new public plan, Medicare or the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) utilize proven disease management programs." basically if you use his new public plan you can no longer decide what kind of treatment you receive

you really think he doesnt know whats going on as far as millitary conflicts are concerned? im pretty sure that of the last three candidates with a shot at the oval office hes the most seasoned and learned on the subject.

you really think hes gonna go launching pre-emptive attacks on Iran?  heavens... what i know is that McCain has been on point as far as the Iraq strategy is concerned, and i dont think that theres any indication that that would change do we?  Again, when compared with the other two choices, there is no comparison. 

obama, so far as i know, is for getting all our people out of Iraq, and "pressing iraqi politicians to reconcile".  Are you serious? the sunnis and shia not to mention the kurds have been in conflict since... 1200 or so? and theyre gonna sit back with Barack and say, well, mr obama, youre bailing out on us... so... yeah, you know what? time to put the past behind us! lets hug!"  same goes for his vision of diplomacy with his boys bashar and mahmoud.  what is obama going to offer them that they dont do anyways? well get out of iraq so you guys can handle things?  theres gonna be a meeting where the three of em sit down and say, you know what barack? we dont care much about asserting our influence on Iraq after all... since youre playing nice now were gonna go on ahead and condone all exports of the great satan and embrace you and your policy of love with open arms! Obamas biggest idea to "pressure" iran is to step up sanctions... which you know has worked fabulously!

all that said, he seems to be for increasing military size, which is a good thing...

he was able to fill a book full of his plans, it's only hype to those who don't do the research. and just because he's new to washington does not mean he's new to politics. he's been a state senator for 7 years and before that he was big on civil services. the guy's been doing this shit for a long time.

i dont like any of them.   mccain is not a conservative,   hilary is a socialist,  obama, i dont think has proven he is ready.        

although sadly, i fear we will have an obama  presidency.....    if you ask the average person, they  will  vote for him because he is black (not an issue)  and is a good speaker.....   those in NO way qualify  you  to be president of the United States..

This is much more difficult than the Bush-Gore election.  I would have voted for Ronald McDonald before Gore, so that election was an easy decision.

What America doesn't need is a republican in office again. As far as the war in Iraq to be honest, I think we all need to realize that the Shia and the Sunni are never going to stop fighting regardless of anything, therefore we should just save our money and pull out immediately. The democracy that we are trying to set up will never work, it just totally contradicts the whole religion of Islam, and will eventually fail. I think as bad as it sounds let what will happen, happen in the middle east (not totally, but to a certain extent). Of course we won't because we have so much to lose (oil). Disagree if you want, but that's what I think.

As for Obama's spending, if it's money well spent, then it is fine with me, and I think spending money to help the environment is worth it at this point. I think that historically democrats know how to spend money much more wisely than their republican opposites. The whole republican theory of flooding the country with money fails, whereas the democrats bottom up economy seems to work relatively well, and at this time when the economy is struggling horribly, I think a republican in office would be detrimental. I think why I like Obama is that he has a long-term vision of what the country should be like, and will strive to see that after his presidency things will be moving in the right direction. As much as I like McCain as a decent republican candidate, I think he is too short-sighted.

funny you mention that flooding the country with cash is a bad "republican" idea... it didnt seem like a republican idea when nancy and harry were trying to pack more cash into the stimulus package... or maybe they just like the idea of the government sending out checks... (yes i realize that bush was hyper about the stimulus package as well)

I've been watching some of this election stuff and it's interesting for me to see that America's "Liberal" party is closest to Canada's conservative party.  Makes me feel a little bit better about the conservative party being in power here, although next election I'll probably vote liberal or even NDP.


Anyway's from what I've seen I'd vote for Obama, although I acctually didn't mind Romney while he was still running, I liked how he seemed to acctually know how the economy worked anyways, and that he realized that simply pulling out of Iraq right now would be much worse than staying and cleaning up the mess that Bush has made.

Still though I would vote Obama if I was American, to me a good healthcare system and other government services should be essential

I'm not saying that no democrats have done this but historically/traditionally the republican's use the theory that if they cut taxes of everyone, that will induce spending of more money etc. and so on. Whereas historically/traditionally the democrats have always practiced the ideas of the great economist Keynes, where they tax the wealthier more heavily, thus creating more jobs, which in turn will increase spending, while filling jobs that need to be done---> thus a bottom up economy. Now I can definitely say in full confidence that the republican's system helps the economy for a short period of time, but in most cases the better solution the way that the democrats run shit.

You tax the wealthy, and you use this money to create more jobs to employ people who are not able (for whatever reason) to get a job--->Effective demand. Once these people who need the money begin to get payed, they will spend their money, and this will create even more jobs, and this process will continue thus stimulating the economy. Maybe I am not explaining it greatly, but there is no doubt that it works, this was created perhaps the greatest of the three great economists John Keynes, and this is the process that got America on it's way out of the depression (until ww2 came along). So you can't even argue that what I am saying isn't true, unless you know something that I don't (which is very possible).

Too bad this isn't Soviet Russia or some other communist country, because just giving people money is not the governments or taxpayers job. This is a Capatilist country where people are given freedom, freedom to flourish and freedom to fail. It is not the governments job to go around giving out handouts and band aids to people who fall down. Plus there are a lot of people who have gotten themselves into those situations from there own laziness and stupidity. People in this country have the ability to make there own choices and pull themselves up by the bootstraps if they fail.

And as for taxing the shit out of the rich, they are not the countries bank who are there simply to have money taken from them. They work just as hard, if not harder, than anyone else for there money, that's why they are rich. It is idiotic and discriminatory to tax one economic level a ton and others very minimaly. They are rich because they worked for it and have the right to be and stay rich.

Plus, this entire program, giving money to the poor, takes TONS of money, money that we don't have so we will only be adding to the national debt and increasing spendign which is exactly what got us into the hole in the first place. If we stop excessive government spending, including the rediculous amount of earmarks from congress and from both parties, then we can decrease the national debt, stop borrowing money from China, and let things in our economy work themselves out, which they will if we let them.

Usually I don't get into these rants, but i was bored, and feeling politically passionate. Oh and btw, McCain.

the one economic thing that has been driving me crazy is, washington's stimulus package...
for one where will the money come from? china. what will most Americans do with china's money? spend it on a tv, made in china.... who's economy is that helping? CHINA'S!!!! NOT AMERICA'S

now on to number two, i am 18 and a senior in HS i made about 6,000$ last summer and fall.. if i get one of these refund packages, it will probably be around 300$, well i only payed 150$ in taxes...
so i will keep 150$ of that 300$ "package". i will donate the remaining to a charity... i dont want welfare!

did not every single 18 year old in the nation just jump on the obama bandwagon? He can speak and hes young and hes black, so everyone should vote for him....no. I don't think he's proven that he's ready but i also think that every candidate sucks a fat one.

A sudden withdrawal from Iraq would be stupid. Even though Bush started it doesn't mean you just go and pull everyone out because you don't agree with it. Fix the mess then do what you want.

Well think of it this way...what do other countries think when us Americans just pull out? We start a mess and leave it....take some responsibility and resolve any problems we created. i pretty much agree with your first part, but correct me if i'm wrong. From what i have learned so far from this "economic stimulus package" is not money from china, its more or less an early rebate (tax-break) check from next years taxes (2008) not this years. meaning you will pay less taxes next year, at least thats what im hearing. So....what does that mean? it means that Americans "think" they are being giving free money, when in all truth the government is just giving you back part of your money early.
another thing is, like you said, washington wants you to spend your money on Tv's, electronics and so on to "stimulate" the economy, which comes from china.
what really pisses me off is that Washington is just trying to "buy us off" so we can go on living our little pathetic lives. they are paying us so they can walk away.
