MY NEW CAMERA

I just got a Canon EOS 40D, I've shot with an slr before, but never done any proper skiing shots, I've got a 17-85 I could do with something like a 100-400, but I'm skint, so... anyone got any tips for ski photography? I'm off to the slopes in 2 weeks so any help would be awesome!

Ski photograhpy's fun because there really aren't any rules to it.  Just keep in mind you're shooting a person that's moving quickly, and that snow can be a bictch to take pictures of (think of exposure).  Go out there and be creative and your shots will turn out sweet as long as you know how to work the camera.  There aren't many other scenarios where you can take pictures from trees or of people flying over you, so go take some awesome pictures and post them!

yeah that camera is great to shoot sequences 6.5fps

keep in mind that you don't need to be shooting in sequence although it can give a cool effect...im fine with my 3 fps and i think yours is the same. i actually found that the lighting with snow allows for a much faster and crisper shot than when i usually have to shoot indoors at some sports event and i have to pump up the iso. With the snow bouncing the light off the snow soo much it allows you to have a much lower iso.

Sequences are a great aspect of photography Our photographer has this camera and its amazing. the backcountry and urban sequences turned out great.
