i broke my collar bone about 7 weeks ago. it healed in about 4 weeks, but still, when i shovel snow, or when i do a lot of lifting with it it gets a dull pain.. anyone know how long i will have that for? is it just the muscle rebuilding?

Probably a couple of weeks at least. I've never really 'broke' a bone, but I stress fractured both of my femurs. That was about 2 or 3 years ago and they still hurt and throb occasionally. I think it depends on the bone. How badly did you break it?

I messed up my collar bone a few years ago skiing. I was told it wasn't broken, but it took a few weeks before i could move my arm, and the bone itself still sticks out a little bit more than it should. I get a pain when i do anything really physical, like bench pressing. I would say go to the doctor and make 100% sure it is healed correctly.

Well I just broke my collar bone a couple days ago so I can't tell you much about that. BUT, I did break my ankle a year ago and I occasionally still get pain doing something too stressful on it. If you didn't do a full a PT schedule, chances the bone will heal stiff and therefore not move as easily, limiting the motion, and causing pain if you move too much, so its likely just natural and I wouldn't be too worried.

i've broke my collarbone and dislocated my arm. so, after its healed, if the doc recomends physical therepy, DO IT. i didnt do it the first 2 times. i got screwed over. i had problems for like a year after. but the healing wont take too long. but the strength takes longer than you think...give it time and do the work outs...they look retarded and like they wont do much. but they do...
good luck

YES i totally agree with this guy. I had a +3 break in my AC joint last season. (for those that dont know what it is check WebMD) but it was the worst pain i ve ever had! Went to the docter he said i should go through an intense physical therepy program. about three months later its almost like it never happened. theres still a bump but virtually no pain

if they didnt give you one and its still super week and giving you problems, ask your mom if you can set up an appointment with the family doctor, go see him, tell him whats wrong, and he should set you up with a therapist that he thinks is suitable.
you can do this your self if you have one of those resistance bands(maybe your mom has one)...anyways...take it and tie it to a bed post or something, put your elbom at your side at a 90 degree angle and slowly rotate it in a 180 degree motion. this will work out your rotators cup. then take it and step on the resistance band, and straighten your arm, bring it staight up out to your side, do reps of that. then do it bringing your arm out in front of you.
just do various assortments of those...start out with a little resistance then move on to more difficult stuff.
hope it helps and that you get what i'm talking about. haha. its hard to explain
