I searched and cant find anything about the diameter of the pvc. Im not sure weather to get 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" or 2" please help for ideal size, and is 3" just pushing it?
ya i was thinking about tha^^ but i just started being able to do rails so its still a maybe. And with something at 3" will it still screw well to the pvc, or is there not enough PVC touching the wood to have as secure fit?
I use 1 1/2 on my rail and its good. The one thig you should do is cap the ends or maybe get a very small piece of pvc and put it IN the ends of your rail so if you land on the end for some reason it doesnt break, like mine.
it would probably be a little bit wobbly. go with something a little smaller if you want to have a single barrel rail. After building a few rail myself I have found that 3/4" pipe works pretty well if you want to go the double barrel route.
i would def go for a shotgun rail ....3" will be kind of weak on top of a 2x4 or whatever your going to use. i think it would be better to go with some 1 1/4" pipes. thats what i have on my boxes and they are solid
