Before about 2 years ago I really didn't know where Cancun was, or what was there. All i knew was that rich kids from elementary school would go there for presidents week, and come back really tan. Even though I later found out it's location on the Yucatan Peninsula, it was obvious that other people were having trouble figuring out just where Cancun is. While waiting in the terminal for the flight to board, I heard a conversation in progress, and luckily I tuned in at the right time. It went like this:
Girl 1- "So what is this flight like 12 hours?"
Girl 2- "No way. Cancun is right in Southern California, so with the time difference, it will be like we're only flying for 2 hours."
1- "I could've sworn Cancun was near europe somewhere."
Other Kid - "Wait, I thought cancun was a resort in Miami."
These weren't young kids either, the two girls were older than me, and the other kid was prob like 14 or 15. Now I didn't know where cancun was 2 years ago, but at least I knew it wasn't near europe.
Our flight didn't leave till around 8:30pm I think, so we arrived in Cancun at about 12:30am. After getting luggage and taking a shuttle to the hotel, we finally checked in at 1:15ish, and were ready to go to bed. At check in I was ready to be dissapointed if I got a red wristband, indicating that I'm under 18 (which I am) and wouldn't allow me to get alcohol. Thankfully the guys at the desk saw the beard and Immediately assumed I was old enough, so the trip was starting out on the right foot.
The next day we woke up a little later at 9:30 and decided just to hang around at the hotel for the first day, and really see what was going on. We found chairs near the pool and hung out there a little bit, and then eventually moved down to the beach. It was pretty crowded, but I like seeing tons of different people, so I was fine with it. There were 4 pools, including a swim up bar which was awesome because I've never been in one before, and it wasn't crowded at all for some reason so the drinks kept coming. Two buffet dining areas were right near the pools and beach so we really just stayed there all day and scoped out the scene I guess. It was a nice relaxing day to start things off.

I really didn't know what to expect of the area, I just knew there were some bars and clubs, so when we finally got in to the "hotel zone center" or w/e it's called I was pleasantly suprised. Apparently right after christmas is the busiest time of year, even more than spring break, so the place was just going off. I loved just walking around down the street and seeing stuff go on, and the music pumping, it just made me feel happy. Like I said though, that night we didn't do anything because we just wanted to see what it was like first.
The next day I don't remember much what we did, I think just kinda hung out again and relaxed on the beach. The weather was perfect at about 80-85 and humidity wasn't real bad. The water was 74 or 75 and was a great temperature to cool off and relax in.
Well let me tell you, I was blown away. I would never consider myself a club guy just because around here, being a 'club guy' means you're a guido and a dousche (repetitive i know). But this was seriously one of the most fun places I've been to. Not only was the size of the place incredible, but the little shows that went on, and the lighting and music and everything was just awesome. The place was totally packed, but again, I like seeing a lot of people and it was just such a cool place. I also felt good because most of the guys in there cared more about themselves than any girls around them, which worked in favor for me. It was just kind of weird being with my mom and sister and having girls come up to me and stuff, but I just loosened up and everything was cool. I really can't describe how the place was, and obviously pictures won't either, but It was just so crazy and so much fun. Here's a few pics my mom and sister did take though while we were there.

After the ruins then we went to this freshwater thing that i forget what it's called, but that was also sick. The water wasn't nearly as cold as I expected, and there was a little area like 15 feet high you could jump off of into the water so that was fun.
(Me being a noob jumping)
(The only pic of the place)
Overall it was an awesome trip and the perfect break from everything back home. There's obviously a lot of stuff i didn't include, but this is just a general outline of what went down. I'd definately reccomend anyone to go there for partying, relaxing, or w/e. I really hope i can go back, but this time with just a friend or two so we can really have fun.
