A great way to start winter break

so yesterday was the first day of winter break and i am up skiing, do a backie off one of our tables, didnt quite make the rotation and my tip dug into the knuckle.  I separated my shoulder.  I was wondering if anyone else has separated their shoulder and how long it took them to feel good enough to ski.

Your on winter break already? Shit. I don't start till Friday. I seperated my shoulder when skating one time. Took awhile. I still can't throw anything too hard for a long time because it hurts it. Just give it some rest

It depends how bad the separation is. I separated mine last year (3rd degree...2 of all 3 ligaments torn) at the beginning of the season and it didn't feel right until late jan/early feb...it's still messed up to this day...the end of my collar bone protrudes out now on the top of my shoulder (like a big bump)

REST IT UP WELL, get a sling and try not to use your arm for anything for awhile. LET IT HEAL properly.

last year first day i fell off some rail and blew mine out to. Frigin sucks. I had to get surgury and it took 4 monthes for it to be useable again. I lost all season. The doctor said that if i didnt get the surgury that if i took any decent fall and landed on that shoulder it'd blow out again. I know another guy who blew his out skating and never got the surg and now everytime he sneezes it pops out again...... but he knows how to put it back in himself so its not that bad. My advice get the surgury so it don't happen no more.

i tried to do a backflip, i sorta half committed and got upside down then panicked haha it had to look so rediculous i landed in pow so it was cool tho, good luck with your shoulder

brett favre seperated his shoulder against the cowboys and went back and practiced on monday and played in the game.

KL. got a 2nd degree separation on november 17th or 18th, and last weekend was his first weekend back out, he just filmed though and then this weekend he didnt do anything too tech.
next weekend he'll be back in full force though.

so depending on how bad, could be 3-6 weeks out

that sucks bro. i messed mine up last feb, but it wasnt too bad. same kind of thing, caught my tip. i pushed it and went back up in like 2 weeks, but that was a mistake. took me about a month to get back up to full stregnth, i think. no surgery or anything though. just take it easy, itll come back.

I seperated my shoulder and tore all four of my rotater cuff muscles and had to get surgery, but you could ski the next day with a separated shoulder, you aren't gonna make it worse. It may hurt you realllllly baddly, but you can still do it.

yeah thats what i figured.  the doc said i was lucky cause it easily could have been way worse.  i am still going to et it mellow for a little while though cause this morning it hurt quite bad

I seperated my shoulder in a basketball game... my injury sounds like urs, i was unable to use it for about a week w/o alot of pain, then the next week i could move it around w/o pain but no serious motions... then the 3rd week i was able to play basketball again and then the 4th week i was fully healed... But now if i ever bench press, i get pain in that shoulder, weird. But yea i think maybe 2 weeks if u didnt tear anything.

1. grow a pair
2. LEARN how to do a backflip, I GUARANTEE that you would not have gotten hurt if you HIGHLY DOUBTED the chance of crashing. jeezzz

But hey, with you hurt i can now improve my skills enough to slay you in all things that require to working arms.  g hero, halo, cappin people with ak 47s, jump ropping and most of all skiing.  watch your back kutcher.

anywho.  i really hope your healin process goes well and ill be back in 3 weeks to massage it gently with warm oils

happened to me on 2 occasions; one bailing off a c box

anyways, it took a few weeks to fully heal, but just keep stretching and shit and itll heal faster.

one seperated, one disclocated...and also a broken collarbone that i didnt know about untill i went in for the seperated shoulder a year later...sucka punk!

Yeah one of my buddies separated his shoulder during football, and ended up playing in about 2 months, but that's football which is constant shoulder contact so it might be shorter for you. You would probably want to wear some kind of protective pad over it when you come back in case you hit it again so it doesnt fuck itself up worse. You should probably be back in a month max.

thats a shitty thing to do right before winter break man, i just torn my mcl so im in the same boat.  But two years ago i separted my shoulder at pc on a cased zero, i was out for about a month, i still skied and everything, but was not 100% for a while, and it still hurts to throw with my arm on that side.

im sorry dude..thgat blows.. my friend seperated his shoulder the second run of the season on a rail.. he was out for abotu 3 weeks then skied again..second day skiing we did a train on a down rail and when he spun 270 out..seperated it again and now hes out for another 2-3 weeks.. jsut take it easy..dont try to rush it..its not worth it ..
