How to function on less sleep

usually when i go to sleep, i feel like i need 10 hours to be perfectly rested. its been proven that humans need roughly 8 hours of sleep. is there any way i can make it so i don't need as much sleep and don't feel like shit the next day? energy drinks and caffeine don't do much for me and i ran outa coke and crystal meth so thats out.

If you're used to sleeping 5 hours a night, then it's okay. Try getting up at the same time every morning... it's even better if you can go to sleep around the same time each night. Get your body into a routine. You'll get used to it, and will be able to function normally without feeling like shit (most of the time).
However, more sleep does make a big impact. Use sport as an example. Functioning on 5 hours of sleep may be enough for classes, and you may feel it's fine for sport as well. However, you may find that if you get into a routine of more sleep (e.g. 8 hours), then you may be able to push yourself that much further and perform better.
A lot of it is psychological. Get into a routine, and stick to it (most of the time).

Mind over matter man you gotta make yourself stop feeling tired, just keep telling yourself your not gonna sleep anyway. That and sick sick sick amounts of caffeine. Trust me if it doesn't work for you then you didn't drink enough. This is how I survive as a science major.

just toke like 30 min before you go to bed before you go to bed then you lay down atart to burn out and you have a super good sleep wake up the next morning and feel fine i always go into bed around 12 hit a waterfall out my window watch a movie if i am still awake at the end take 1 more toke and fall asleep the second time isnt always nescesary but ya it works like a charm
