You keep harping on this notion that defense isn't quite a third of the budget. Yea, when you include social security and medicare, defense is 21% OF THE ENTIRE BUDGET.
But Social security budgets cannot be reallocated because people have been paying into it for years and if we stop paying that we're basically screwing them over.
IF we reallocate medicare resources hospitals close down, and we have angry/diseased/dead people on the streets.
So when you look at the part of the budget that we can actually allocate where we want it.
DEFENSE IS 41% OF THIS BUDGET.
No matter how you want to look at it, these figures are discusting and tell alot about the world that we've made for ourselves.
