A new mountain: Worth it?

before any of you say anything..please click the link and read up about this old abandoned resort. and keep in mind the statistics of pa.

current highest skiable vertical in pa ---1072 (Altoona, Pa)
Potential Highest mountain..this mountain at 14320 or something..could be biggest in pa and southern new york..lots of land to expand on Ie: cabins for winter, summer activities for extra revenue...
Water resources--Juniata river that flows directly across the road at the base..

we took a trip up there some friends and i and talked to some land owners..a hostile amish man owns most of the land..about 4-5 people own an acre each at the bottom of the mountain..with the right amount of money we think they would sell..especially the amish man..

heres our plan so far..were going to create a business plan, a very in depth plan concentrating on the advantages and disadvantages of the mountain.. advantages outweigh..the owner i have for my current job now is the man we will give the plan to..he is one of our only chances right now but as time goes on its a possibility with others..

any help would be great..what do you all think..im at work now so this is not as in depth as i would like but spit out your thoughts good or bad..but try to keep them resonable

oh and it is located in between state college and harrisburg, pa which only real competition would be ski roundtop and tussey mountain which this would blow out of the water..normally 3-6 degrees colder than those two and normally has snow laying when others dont

Are you planning to buy it? What are you asking? It has potential, having the highest vertical drop in PA, but it helps being close to a city. How far away is it from NYC?

we are planning to create a business plan and give it to a guy i work for..he is always interested in new ideas..we dont know what they are asking but im sure it wouldnt be cheap thats why we need the money and somebody interested first off..its located about 3hrs from nyc

thats pretty cool. i think it would be sick even at that small to own a mountain. sucks that that lodge burned down. its cooll how in the pics you can kinda see where the trails are still

I think that would be sick if you guys did it. But it will cost you a bundle. Does your boss have the finances? Would he like the idea. The idea is sick, it can get more people skiing.

it'd be sick, but this guy would have to be completely oblivious to the industry to think that a ski area in the east is a good investment. would be sick though, have you or anyone involved gone to school for resort management or other kinds of business? I'd assume so if you are thinking about this... i hope. I bet if you could find someone really passionate about getting it going and taking a lot of risks with their money you could make it happen, definitely isn't a safe enough investment that you could convince the average person to go for it though.

Oh and I highly doubt this mountain is over 14,000 ft, maybe 1,400

This goes out as an example of motivation to everyone who complains about their ski area or lack of skiing. These guys are doing something about it.

haha yeah i meant 1420 not 14000...we figure if a business proposal is put together and we sent it out..we might get some feedback..the worst that will happen is say no..but im a sophmore in college majoring in business admin so its kinda like helping me with my future too..my dad is in management and such and the other kids dad is also so they are helping us along..

that would be sick0 i ski roundtop which has turned into a shithole in the last year for some reason- liberty - the sister resort- is so much better park wise- hopefully this year it will be good at roundtop

it sounds really cool, but you have to consider you have to dedicate the next 10 years of your life to it, for it even to open let alone be succesfull

wow there is a lot of room to cut out new trails, it would be quite costly though, if you get a group of investors it could be possible, atleast 20 people though, good luck i hope it happens, oh and the park is named snowboard somthing, change that please
