My mom is a long time DOT employee and she herself pumps out several million dollars worth in resurfacing contracts each year, so I know a bit more than average about roads, but what most people don't know about roads is that the speed limit isn't built for the road, but rather the other way around. The degree and bank of the curves, what material the road is made of, how wide the lane is, etc. all depends on the state's desired speed for the road.

So techically, going fast on a low-MPH road is more dangerous than pulling 75 over on a 65-MPH. Just be safe is all I'm saying

But where are people more likely to go 30 over at? In my diagnosis, it's the curvy back roads because of less cops. Tons of factors.

Refrigerators on wheels with tractor engines...I think the fastest I've ever dared to go in my lifted jeeps was around 80. Fastest I've been in my LJ is 75...all set on going faster than that

Had the needle burried in my honda while driving through OR. Speedo maxes out at 140mph, the car gears out at 160, so I was somewhere around there. Cop passes me the other direction and I kept it pinned.

45 min later at a rest stop, I got out to take a piss and smoke a bowl. Then the cop pulls up.

He says he saw me way back and has been trying to catch up. Never got me on radar, so let me go with a warning. Never said anything about the smoke,  but I was practically blowing it out as he rolled up.

Low 180s in a 65 a couple times on my old GSX-R. I'm not positive exactly how fast though, I don't do too much looking down over 170 or so. Shit gets pretty fuckin' real in a hurry at that speed. A quick glance down at the wrong second and you're a fne red mist.
