Rust on edges

Not sure if this should be in here of ski equipment, but whatever. I just pulled my skis out of sotrage for the season, taking the storage wax off them and I noticed a small patch of rust (maybe 1.5 or 2cm) on one of the edges, how do I get rid of it without taking it into a shop to get the edges tuned? would it be alirght to just rub it off with sandpaper?

its not a big deal. the rust on the edge will just come off the first time you go out riding them. i guess you could take sandpaper to it VERY lightly if it bothers you that much. but rust is no big deal, just wipe your skis down with a rag when you come in from skiing and you wont have to deal with it again.

i wouldnt bother touching it though

haha you knoww my edges were a big deal haha like almost the whole edge was covered haha

but i use a wire brush for edges with rust on them if thre is alot, and the rest of the crap should fall right off. just wipe your shit down

yeah normally I do wipe then down after but I just pulled them out of the cupboard after 6 months and noticed the rust then. they were dry when I put them away cause I put a heavy coat of wax on them. haha Im not anal about how my edges look I was just wondering if I needed to get rid of the rust, but it seems its not a big issue so its all good

i left my skis in my bag once for like 3 days after skiing. They rusted hella bad. I just sharpened the edges or whatever with a file and got most of it and the rest came off when i skiied

steel wool would be better than sand paper.

if you dont want to wear it down you can try a scotch brite pad...it should prubably work, but it may take a little more scrubbing, but it will be better for your edges.

What do you mean you put like a storage coat of wax on?

just a heavy coat wax.. its supposed to stop the bases from drying out over the summer. don't know if it actually does anything or not
