Several questions:

For people who mount their skis at perfect center, do they feel any real drawbacks from all mountain skiing?

If you mount those mini shock obsorbers of PX Jibs, do they have the same effect as lifters do on skis?

I heard that boot companies just shave off all the good padding in boots for half sizes. Is this true for salomon boots, and if so does going up a half size make that much of a difference?

A SKI MOUNTED BACK PERFORMS WAY BETTER FOR ALL MOUNTAIN. WHAT DO YOU SKI MAINLY, WHAT TYPE OF ALL MOUNTAIN. GO WITH A LONGER STIFFER SKI AND CENTER MOUNT IT AND IT WILL SKI DECENTLY. DONT GO TRUE CENTER IF YOU SKI ALOT OF POW, BUT THEN YOU SHOULD JUST GET TWO SKIS.

THEY ARE LIFTING YOU, SO YES. BUT IT IS MINIMAL

SHELLS AND LINERS FOR HALF AND WHOLE SIZES ARE USUALLY IDENTICAL. A LOT OF THE TIME, AS IS THE CASE FOR SALOMONS, THEY JSUT PUT A THICKER INSOLE IN THE WHOLE SIZE AND A THINNER IN THE HALF SIZE. SOMETIMES THEY MAKE THE LINER A LITTLE THINNER FOR THE WHOLE SIZE IN SOME BRANDS. A LOT OF STORES DONT EVEN CARRY BOTH SIZES. THE SHELL IS WHAT GIVES YOU THE FIT AND IT IS THE SAME IN EITHER. TONGUE PADDING WILL BE THE SAME, AND MOST OFTEN, THE REST OF THE LINER IS THE SAME. IF YOU GO WITH THE HALF SIZE (EX: 25.5) IT WILL JUST BE A TRUER EXAMPLE OF WHAT THE BOOT WILL FIT LIKE. A THICKER INSOLE OR LINER WILL JUST PACK OUT AND FIT LIKE THE HALF SIZE EVENTUALLY.

Thanks man. Can anyone also support the evidence that the half size is a better version, or confirm the answers to any of the other questions?

true center makes all mountain skiing alot harder if you are skiing pow, or trying to charge, unless you have skis way longer then youre self.

I dont know about the boots sorry, ive never heard anything like this, but ski wise, go longer than you think, i prefer the shovel of the ski to arc flat over my forehead, and mount them true center, they are amazing for switch, and ski fine on groomers, moguls arent as fun but you can ski them just as well if your a decent skier, just a little more work, and idk about the bindings, ive always mounted mine flat

i know that on salomon boots, the half size difference is in the LINER, not the insole. i believe the half sizes just have a thinner sole on the actual liner.

What I was told, is a 28 and 28.5 will have the same shell, but a 28.5 will have a slightly different liner, most of the difference between half sizes is in width, not in length. Basically, there's less padding on the sides of the liner in a half size in order to give you more width. Just get whatever size fits better.

get big skis mount them in the middle, if you dont ski pow that often it is the only way to go. you might want to look into Anthems or invaders if you are concerned about turning they will turn super good, invaders in 161 (to small for me but still fun)will turn just about as good as my 160 slalom skis.

The shell sizing thing is correct. I proformed boots for a size 9, and got 9.5s. Even with different liners, the shells are too big to hike or skin in, as I get hotspots.

i will add this also for the centermount, you tend to ride a ski with your weight over the center of the ski, with centermount skis, it tends to be easier to end up skiin around in the backseat, or at least an upright position. its that reason that center skis are not great for all mountain. a ski mounted at or slightly behind the centerline will allow you to keep more pressure on the fronts of your boots, therefore allowing you to drive the ski harder.

as for padding in the boot, go the half size, and use Dr. Scholls in place of or under the normal footboard. they help a ton with shock absorbtion, much more than foam.

are you not contradicting yourself with those two statements?

salomon has switched back and forth between having a thicker liner, or a thicker insole to make the difference. i believe right now, it is a thicker insole. the point is it doesnt matter. the fluffy foo foo foam they put in (either way) is jsut going to pack out. it doesnt matter which one you get after a little while of riding, realistically

the main difference between halfsizes is in the width.

get the boot that fits you better, not the one that you think will have more padding. The difference will probably be minimal anyway

the only difference in half sizes is smaller liner, or it could be smaller boot, but i think its the liner.
just mount ur ski 2 back from center, perfect mounting point. my chronic 177s are mounted there and i like them there better than  any other spot, it feels so good for switch because that follows the side cut better. and on my bc wrs they are mounted at modern, and i think that is like 6-10 back from center, and they carve switch like none other

i dont think u will notic ethe diff between the liner on a half size and a full size its fractional measurement and wont effect ur skiing dramatically but a shorter boot =more control
