I have an HP laptop. Whenever I am doing something that I guess takes up a lot of video space or memory (Im bad with this shit) like for example playing jibberish or something like that the back left side of my computer gets extremely hot, even to the touch it kind of burns. Then in the middle of whatever I am doing, the computer will shut off. Whats the deal here? What can I do, what should I do. I don't want my comp to have a melt down and shit...

ehhhh, doesnt sound like an easy fix. Research some shit on HP's forums or something to see if anyoone else is having a similar problem. Shit heating up sounds like a defective part and something is shorting out maybe, def sounds bad.

Try propping it up more Chris. It's probably just because the ventalation sucks. My friend had the same problem, the fan points to the bottom and there isn't enough prop space.

send it in for warrenty since it is new. thats definatly a defect of some sort. or, if you want a good computer, get a refund and buy a mac.

check and see if there's a recall or others with the same issue. (try searching for a laptop forum or the name of the laptop with 'overheat' or something added on in Google) if not then you could add and extra fan to the laptop. visit a store and but one, make sure it's for your notebook.

if by that you mean mac laptops get really hot, your right. but they work...
Recent thought: they make cooling pads meant for just this thing. They are powered by USB, and I think they cost $40 + or -. I think this should be just the thing you need.
