Watching shitty skiers...

For some reason recently ive been noticing alot of realy shitty skiers doing tricks far beyond their ability. Ive seen people who should be working on doing 360s with style doing ugly ass sketch switch rodeo 5s. It makes me wonder how they ever think there going to get anywhere without being able to do the bassics. The reason pros are pros is because they learn all the bassics with style then move onto the more advanced tricks. Everyone whoever thinks of making a future at skiing should take 2 steps back and re-learn the bassics. People need to be able to do 180 - 540 of the largest jumps with any variation of, grabs smoothly 4 ways before progressing much further (4 ways = regular, switch, unnatural, switch unnatural). Skiing is a building block sport. You need a strong base before you can move onto more advanced things.

i suck and i am willing to accept it so i dont try nice tricks i am just getting down nice stylie 3s and once i have mastered them i will move on to 5s and so on

Thats how ive done this winter. I wanted to learn these advanced tricks fast so i im not good at basics, but i dont regret it. At the end of the season i threw some bio 900s, but only with safetygrabs. Next winter I will try to ski every day and make everything more stylie. I will start all over from 360 again just to get the style down. It will be better cause now ive got confidence and feeling comfortable in the air so it will be way more smoother.

cj i respct your opinion but i dont really agree with it. just because you see somebody trying switch rodeo 5's and landing them all sketchy and they arent even grabbing doesnt mean much. a rodeo 5 is a pretty basic trick and if somebody wants to work on them to make them stylie then whats wrong with that? i still cant regular 5 but i can misty 5 with steeze and 3 different grabs. everybody learns at different paces with different ways so let it be. they arent creating a bad time for you and if they are then you my friend have issues.

snonasty... u cant steeze out a misty with 3 diffrent grabs, steeze means that you have a rilla safty with your legs spread wide apart, anything besides that is just STYLE

yo man steeze doesnt mean one type of style. steeze is just another word for style. if something looks good to you, then its steezy, it doesnt matter what the trick is or how its grabbed.

this has been in my mind for a long time. your progression ends somewhere if you can't do the basic stuff.

learning 180 to 540 normal, unnatural, switch and switch unnatural makes a lot to your spins. you can control your spins a lot better if you can rotate both directions and both ways (normal and switch). as said before, doing a shitty un-stylish 900 doesn't make you a pro.

style is everything in this sport.

dude the word steeze comes from, Gorrila Steeze... witch means wide legs and arms out like a monkey, it makes no sence to say that was a steeze mute grab because the person normanly wouldnt have his legs far apart on a mute grab...

alright i cant even believe im arguing over the fucking word steeze, this is unlike me but your annoying me now. gorrila steeze=gorilla style. the word steeze was being used by rappers in the 80's man. we just adopted it. the word steeze=style doesnt matter what kind of style. steeze did not come from gorrila steeze or even skiing for that matter no matter how much you want it to be. end of story my friend.

means you need to go back and learn the bassics. You just hucked yourself inorder to learn a trick you would bennifit far more learning a 5 rather than a misty 5.

i agree wit cj, if u can't 5, and you can misty 5, you rushed yourself. 5 is a really basic trick. but really, its up to you, you choose the way you want to progress, watever way is fun for you. id recommend getting things stylie before you move on.

i can 540. Most of you have seen it. Its shitty. I dont care. I'm still learning. Its a lot more fun learning a shitty 540 than spending days. doing 180's bigger and bigger. At least thats what i think. It's not all about style. Its all about fun.

i think you need to learn big stuff to get real comfortable, then you can go back to learn the basics again and it will feel more natural, im not gonna stop at 5's this year because of style, i wanna get good at stuff and progress without worrying about how i look and then perfect it later. but thats just me...i shouldnt really be talking though i cant even do 5's yet...

no cj its just the fact that i could do them on the tramp perfect for like a year and my first year of freeskiing i decided to try one. sure i ate shit a few times but after a while i got it and now it looks fine. why does it matter what tricks you can and cant do? i think that if you try really advanced tricks and you cant do the basics then go back to basics but if you can do them then whoes to say you cant throw them down? its all a matter of opinion really but the bottom line is this. if you feel you can throw the trick, then throw it. if you land it after a few trys, keep throwing it. then you make it look good no matter what the trick is.
