How hard is a backflip

I can do a backflip on a tramp just fine, but how hard is it on skis, and what is a good size jump to learn it on.
by the way i live in wisconsin so there isn't much powder so if you fall it hurts

its really easy. and do it on a medium sized jump with not too much speed and u should be fine.

it is easy as fuck. I feel more comfortable doing a backflip then a 360 on most jumps.  Its when you start making variations of inverted trick that it starts becoming difficult.

Yea I thought they would be hard, but they are super easy, the hardest part is getting your self to do it. Just chill out and spot your landing and you will nail it. Good luck

just make sure you kick your feet over your head. dont thro your head and arms back or you might catch your head on the lip.

DEFINATELY easier than a 3*
*Depending on the size of the jump, obviously don't backflip a step up your first few times, and if you get scared just find some pow

I can land a front flip on a tramp but cant get myself to do a back flip. I can do a backflip into a pool but not a gainer. How do you get your weight back whithout screwing out the bounce?

i don't really know what you're talking about with bounce...
but to put it this way...my friend once asked JP Auclair how he did backflips. JP just kinda stood there for a minute, and then bent his back and looked at the sky...just look, and if you're on a little jump, huck a little.

Don't even worry about it. I can backflip the smallest jump in our pinky park, they don't take much. You know how to do it, just drink like 2-3 beers so you are feelin fearless and go for it into some pow.

i can't do a backflip on the trampoline haha idk why but im really good at fronts how hard are they? is it the same concept when ur bouncing on a tramp and doing them? (kinda stupid questoin...)

frontflips...are they like hard??

compared to say a 540...which do you guys think would be easier and i can basically land a double frontflip on a trampoline although idk if its the same concept??

first off id like saying that I have never attempted an invert in any way shape or form , but just from thinking about it I would say that a frontflip would be an easy trick but much more intimidating than a backflip because you pretty much cant spot your landing until the end of the invert.

All in all I would say that just because of the fact that a frontflip relies on you keeping your cool the entire invert a 5 might be easier, which i cant say in full knowledge cause I have only landed one or two 5's

a back flip is much harder that a front flip because a back flip on skis is a gainer. A front flip, you can tuck. A back flip you cant but have to bring all you leg and ski weight over your head. also, you have to have like 2 feet of clearence when bringing the skis back under you to copletet he flip/

nope front flips are pretty much a blind landing unless you do it on a big jump with a slow rotation. its def harder than a backflip

Backs
A back flip is one of the easiest tricks to do (If you are naturally a flipper, some people spin better), but one of the scariest to learn. If you have them solid on the tramp, you can do them on the snow. Just be sure to pop and not chicken out. It also helps if the jump is more of a kicker. It will give you more rotation and will hurt less if you come up short. Also, try it off a small-medium sized jump your first time. You don't want to go huge and die. As you pop off the lip on your first try, set your rotation by throwing your arms up and your head back. If you're on a small jump, try to remember to tuck it up too, as that will help you rotate faster. Then just spot your landing and put your gear down. As you get better you can start stalling them and adding grabs. However, for your first one you just want to be sure and get around. Hope that helps and good luck.

Fronts
Fronts are harder because they are blind most of the way. Be sure and wait for your pop and don't throw the flip early. As you pop, throw both arms down and tuck in to a ball. Then just stay tucked till you see your landing. I actually like a little pop on the jump to help set the rotation. Personal preference.

Backflips are easier because they follow the kinetic energy of just leaning back. Frontflips are harder not so much because you can't see your landing but more because you have to throw your weight forward once in the air, as opposed to just leaning back and letting the flip pull you through like a backflip.

when i did my first frontflip it felt like i was rotating suuuper slow. is that the same feeling with the backflip. also, does it hurt if u fall on ur head in pow?

True, it is easier to get the rotation on a back flip because you're working with the jump. However, if your timing is right, you'll get enough rotation easily. The blind rotation also makes it harder to know where you are. The most common mistake I've seen is opening early and landing on your back. If you do it, commit, throw it hard, and stay tucked till you see the landing coming between your skis.
