haha it isn't much and it isn't ivy league or anything, but I just got into the University of New England as a transfer and received an academic scholarship! woo! I've never gotten a scholarship or awards or anything for school so this is fuckin cool. haha yes!
You can get a scholarship for almost anything. For anyone in college, just go to your scholarship office or website and spend a half hour looking at what they have. Even the worst students can get money for next year, it just takes initiative.
yea, St Mikes, but it's exciting that they offered me money. Had I just gotten accepted, I probably would have just thrown it away, but this is exciting!
Mainly the Wilderness Program here. My old school made it so hard to get out and do anything, even though there was a lot to do in the area. Here there's always some kind of trip every weekend. They have so much funding for outdoors programs. The gear room here has close to 50,000$ worth of equipment, like whitewater boats, ice climbing gear, tele skis, and just basic camping gear. Then there's the sea kayaks, and all of the extended trips where they hire professionals in that field to guide the trips. Over winter break I got to go sea kayaking in South Carolina and got to paddle with one of the better all around paddlers in the country. The ski club and flyfishing club are pretty cool as well.
I really like the campus itself. I really do not like big schools at all. I like the smaller class sizes, and the professors here seem like they care so much more about how you are doing that at my old school. The people here are so much friendlier, students and staff.
I just hate living in Founders Hall. Damn hot water pipes running through my room. Its always about 75-80 degrees in my room...year round.
Its actually very similar to St. Mikes in size, but thrown into the middle of nowhere. I'm from the Buffalo area, but I have family in Williston. They're actually the ones who convinced me to look into St. Mikes. My sister also goes here.
