The story teller

In the Novella The Body, I think that Gordie is the main character. He is the main character because all the events that happen in the novella revolve around Gordie, or involve him in some way.

Gordie is the main character also because the story is of his summer, there is other people in it and have significant roles but Geordie’s is the biggest. The story is about his childhood summer, and how much it meant to him, not so much about teddy, Vern, or Chris.

“But for me, summer is always going to mean running down the Florida Market with change jingling in my pockets, the temperature in the gay nineties, my feet dressed in keds.”

With this quote you find out what the summer means to Gordie but not to what it mean to any of the other guys. In the novella things mean more to Gordie but not to the other guys. He thinks about stuff more in-depth and real gets to no what things mean or meant. The other guys just kind of let things go and don’t appreciate what they mean. For instance like friends, Denny’s Memory, and the deer is so important to him, when those things most likely wouldn’t mean anything to this friends. For him it as if words make things seem, worthless.

Gordie is like the heart of the group. No one in his group of friends does anything unless he goes along with it. Even though Chris is kind of the leader of the group, they do what Gordie does and thinks is ok. They stick together and do things only if all of them agree. One example of this is when Vern wants them to go and find the dead body with him. At first Gordie doesn’t know if he wants to go, and they wouldn’t go unless he will go with them, but then decides to go.

“Those are the only people you want to be with, aren’t they, Gordon? …aw dad. There ok- …of course they are a thief and two feebs fine company for my son.”

Gordons father doesn’t like him being friends with them, but he wont every leave them.

Even if he doesn’t talk to his friends for year…he will be best friends forever with them, because they have been though so much together.

In the novella The body Gordie is the main character because of all the events he goes though with his friends. Most of the events affect him the most, when the other guys don’t really think it’s a big deal. For example the Milo and chopper incident, running from the train, getting the leech on his privates, and seeing the deer.

One of those cases how Gordie is affected the most for instance is when he had to run from Chopper the junk yard dog and jump the fence, with no were to get away from it. Chris, teddy, and Vern didn’t think it was as big of a deal as he did. They thought it was kind of funny how he had to run as fast as he could, jump and climb the fence and almost get attacked by the dog. “Kiss my --- Choppie!” Teddy said not getting how big of a deal it was for Gordie.
