I know people hate boot related threads but, who rocks custom foot beds? Someone was trying to sell me a pair w/ my rampages but i wasnt sure if they were totally necessary because I pretty much just lap the park. Whats the deal w/ them? (this thread is for people who actully run custom footbeds and NOT for people who just have an opinion on them)
custom foot beds are seriously amazing. im not talking about superfeet, im talking about custom fit-heat molded foot beds. although you obviously dont need them, they make a HUGE differnece. the day after i got mine, i seriously felt like a better skier. better edge control, much more comfotable, actually felt good to be in my boots. if you can come up with the $, totally worth it.
i currently am just using some superfeet footbeds for the extra arch support that i need, but once i get enough money for my next pair of boots i am going to invest in custom ones. They make a huuge difference. Even the superfeet are much better than the stock footbeds and theyll run u only about 30 bucks. You can also use them in ur shoes and any other footwear
i have custon footbeds. i love um. ive had them for like 2 or 3 years. the only downside is that over the years they have gotten stomped down from all the impacts theyve taken. id say you would prolly need to replace em every 2-3 years.
id def reccomend them tho. gives your feet maaad support
true custom foot beds cost around $100-$300 USD most are between $130 and $200. what it does is gives your foot more support in exactly the places it needs it, the keep your foot from being crushed by the boot, while still alowing your boots to be snug. Most boots come with a crapy footbed that gives your foot about the same amount of support as a thin piece of card board. If you have salomons pull it out of your liner, and look at it do you really want that to be supporting your foot? By providing more support to your foot, your feet will be much more comfortable after a couple of hours, your foot will also interact more with the boot providing more power transfer, this is also becuase the custom foot bed holds your foot inplace instead of sliding around in the boot. this will also result in less tow bang. Rule of thum get them if you plan on spending over 50 hours in your boots. if you think they are too expensive just get something like supperfeet. they are still a great improvement over stock insoles.
superfeet are dope. the stock footbeds are trash in most boots, so for 35 bucks superfeet are a solid upgrade even if you just lap the park and dont wanna spend a million bucks on legit custom ones.
^ probably not, but if you have issues with your feet and regular walking/running shoes, I wouldn't step foot into boots with regular footbeds... or even superfeet, if your feet are f'ed and require special support, get some custom footbeds made.
sorry fo kind of stealing this thread but if you or anyone else wants some superfeet insoles (the green ones) brand new i will let them go for 10 + shipping.
Footbeds are the only way to ski. They affect everything from comfort to muscle fatigue. Not everone can afford $150+, but anyone can afford $35. I wouldn't step foot in a boot without at least a Superfoot (poor man's answer to lousy support & fit), but custom is the way to go if you can afford it. A good bootfitter is gonna make a better bed than anyone. They understand a ski boot. Don't stick your shoe orthotics in.
i wouldnt recommend this. I walking orthotic allow for a lot of articulation. the whole point of a ski orthotic is support and stability. the ski one will be made out of a stiffer material, with a flat bottom, and will align the bones in your ankle. plus, you walking shoes should be 1 or 2 sizes bigger than you ski boots, so it won't fit, if your boots are fit properly.
get some custom ones made, claim them on your parents medical and they are almost free
i have never skied a day without custom, heat molded foot beds. i get a new pair with every boot. i think i usually get them with molding and everything for like 60 bucks-ish? i just got some new boots, so ill be going in to get some new ones pretty soon.
i would say u need them ESPECIALLY if u and lapping the park because you are constantly having hard landings which are killer on ur feet. supportive, custom footbeds for park, in my opinion, are a MUST.
well i just got a new pair of langes and my shop is soo dope so they gave me a free cutstom heat fit, casue the liner has it built in so they did that and the confitableness of my boots increases sooooo much!
deff worth it
i actually have never gotten that for my boot thats y i probably get wiked shing bang but looks like all u love the inserts i am going to have to try it right aboouut nowww................ or when the snow hits
I have had the heat molded ones and they r really good. They are particularly good when u get news boots and havent got them bedded in yet. HOWEVER, mine broke up! When you are hitting the park doin lap after lap the cork and plastic in mine just flattened out and broke up. If your into your pow i think go for it but i just got some SPK's and i aint botherin. If i need em i will but they DO bust up.
I have custom cork superfeet and i like them a lot. Probably can spend lots more $$ and get something better, but these superfeet custom's do the trick for me.
