Ok heres why mormons dont practice polygamy. They settled in the salt lake valley. America wouldnt recognize them as a state because they all had multiple wives which went against christian veiws. so they had to give up polygamy to be annexed into the united states.

I have a friend whos mormon...their not omish if thats what you think...their not even really caled mormons, Its just what everybody calls them because their book is the book of mormon, like the bible, tora, koran and whatnot...yea its a religion, like all others they have beliefs.

Mormanism is a cult well its some twisted version where the guys are like #1 or somthing girls are like helpers. Multiple wives cant drink they belive there body is a temple or somthing stupid like that. they take only certain things out of the bible i dont know if they think jesus is the son of god or what, Because i dont recal reading anywhere in the bible about jesus saying anything about multiple wives. some big mess it sounds like kind like with jahova witnesses where they take' dont eat the raw meat' or somthing like that i dont know the exact wording then turn it into you cant donate or recieve blood. with the whole INNER CIRCLE EFFECT of things some people buy it. But i think what realy gets people is that they send all the hot girls out of the church on a certain say in salt lake city and try to convert people.

Im belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mormon. i go to an lds school. its Mormon not morman. wanna know whats messed up? you guys who care what we do. the bullshit you believe. and my body is a temple. Why would i want to smoke a cigarette? just fucks you up inside. I have this body and it means a lot to me. Alcohol messes you up too. who cares if i want to live by the rules my church puts up. It sets a standard or sets morals in this world. Something i think the USA and world lack. but i dont go preaching to friends i just do what i do.

that time magazine is the rlds. REORGANIZED Latter Day Saints. When Joseph Smith was martyred there was a dispute to who was called to be the next prophet/president/leader of the church. LDS or mormons dont look at women as a lower person. or be rate them.

im suprised teh mention of the south park episode didnt come up. i wasnt sure what mormons did in their practices until i saw that. i think its rediculous how it was started if southpark is telling the truth. i also think its rediculous if you cant drink overly hot substances. i know not all mormons follow all the rules, but thats what i think.

i cant recall all the details of it, but from what i do remember, i think i was supprised at how accurate the south park episode was. obviously they were going to portray it a bit slanted, but i was supprised that they didnt jack it up worse than what they did.

as for the hot drinks, that refers to tea and coffee. not the best stuff for your stomach...

maybe i will compose a 'difinitive' post on this subject... if anyone cares to read it.

the south park episode wasnt close to the real thing at all. It had joseph smith reading out of a hat. thats bull. it could not have been that close.

accurate or not that south park episode was one of the funniest ive ever seen. and from the many people i have spoke with, mormons included, it wasnt that far off.

^^^^if you ask most of the mormons they will say that everyone of different races are equal, and that they dont believe in having more than one wife aka polygamy, but the fact is that while they dont believe it, it is written in their book of doctrine and covenants, and use to be some of the basis for the entire religion. It was as a result of polygamy that joseph smith and the majority of the mormons initially got kicked out by americans when the religion was just forming. The thing is that they believe that god talks directly to the ruling group and the leaders. This alows for any change in doctrine if an issue becomes too heated. like plural mariage. Its easy to say that it no longer aplies if you are supousedly in conversation with god everynight, who's going to question you? To find out the real facts about the religion one must look back, at the founder, at the mormon history, and also at their original beliefs, because they portray the religion for what it really is.

the greatest part in teh south park episode was when they told the mormon story. the chorus was something like 'dum dum dum dum'. the was they portrayed it, the guys wife did something smart to see if the reading hat shit was right, the chorus was 'smart smart smart' or something. that was awesome

So the South Park episode WAS accurate? Because I know nothing about this. If it was, I'm confused what reason people would have to believe that stuff... it came across as incredibly implausible. But as I say, I don't know anything about mormonism.
