Jesus the book and the movie were so depressing and demoralizing. Like a shitty thing would happen, then an even more shitty thing, then finally something good would happen but more shitty stuff was to follow. Love how it's shot though.

Just saw Gangster Squad, pretty fucking good. Sean Penn is ruthless. It's really similar to The Untouchables but way more violent and badass, and has a nice westcoast style.

Been getting into LOTR again, still one of the best trilogies of all time.

Watched a bunch over the past few weeks:
Drive, killer cast and solid all around, plus some rad Godfather-esque moments.


Atonement, had to read the book in class, so we watched to movie too, and it was pretty dope as a movie. Trailer looks lame and a little like a chick movie, but worth watching for sure.

The Jacket with Adrian Brody and Keira Knightley is a good psychological thriller I just watched, 8/10. Kind of similar to the Butterfly Effect.

definitely recommend Prisoners. It's a classic Mystic River/Gone Baby Gone type thriller but damn it's exciting and the acting is phenomenal.

yeah i started it and ive only gotten about halfway through cuz of something but so far it is soooo sick. should have been called blow your mind. definitely way different than any other ski movie and the cinematography is awesome

I recently watched Cry Freedom, and I thought it was really good.

It's about Steve Biko and Donald Woods and apartheid in South Africa. Biko is played by Denzel Washington and he did a really good job. My only critique of the movie would be that it could have been a little more focused on Biko and a little less focused on Woods and also that it adopted the cliché storyline of "here comes the white man to save the day." Nevertheless, I would recommend it. It's got some pretty powerful scenes.
