Figured I would share this with everyone because it is THE cheapest you will find this stuff.

It is the same plastic used on all high grade boxxes at the lowest prices I have ever seen.

I am not selling it so don't ask me questions about it please.

I just wanted to share this with everyone. Also they can do custom cutting for you. I just ordered a TON of this for a summer training set up I am building.

Hope this helps some people out.

What kind of material though? That fake grass works kind of ok, but I have seen way better stuff, just not sure what its called. True plastic carpeting would work if you staple it down every 3-8 inches

I am gonna head out to some carpet stores tommorow and get some 2-3ft samples. I will post my findings here. Also I will post the jpg of the CAD set up I am building. It might seem like alot, but if you put in the time to have something to work on ALL summer, when you hit the mountains in the winter your gonna be a whole different skier.

Also with a nice summer set up you can learn boxxes/rails, without having to worry about eating shit (allthough thats half the fun) in front of mad people.

If anyone needs help getting a design drop me a PM. I am a pretty experienced MAYA and AutoCAD user. If you want something really detailed we might need to talk some sort of compensation, but if your just looking for an easy design let me know.

I will also include a photo journal of the step by step build process as I do it. So if anyone wants to give it a shot it will hopefully help.

I will upload the pics of the location shortly and then will upload the jpg when I finish the design.

Yeh, but the HDPE and the other UM-- are better for the long run. Lexan is nice because of the color variations, but the two above are used in commercial grade machine processing and are EXTREMELY tough. Also for a 1/2 sheet of 12"x48" lexan your gonna pay over $100 when you can get all the plastic u need for less then $75 using this.

Nice thing about Lexan though is u can get it clear for some creative cam angles.

Yeh I am going nuts haha I got 4 times the ammount I need for $75 haha.

This winter I am gonna build a wall ride (small) out os plywood and super thin sheets of this. Fortunitly I have an uncle who has an entire machining shop at his house, and can cut this stuff into 1/12 thinkness pieces if need be haha.

Anyway yeh go nuts.

ummm like when it says 4"X 48" is that inches or feet cas my box is like 10 feet so id need a lot.if its inches but if its feet thats an ass load.

actually lexan sucks. i spent like 80 bucks to make my box on lexan and the shit doesnt slide for crap.

ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. its the same material used in bases, some sidewalls, some topsheets, plastic cutting boards, etc. the problem with it is that it dosent seem to come in adequate legnths for making boxes, and if you were to find a long piece, shipping would be 98 billion dollars.

I just bought the indoor/outdoor carpeting, while my expectations aren't very high this stuff should get the job done as far as being able to get enough speed to not only slide the box/rail, but also to be able to get enough pop to spin 270/450

OK the indoor/outdoor carpeting from Home Depot OWNS. I used some bio degradable soap, since its outdoors, and water. Put it on FLAT ground and jumped on it with my skis. I slid reasonably well. IT is going to be FAST which is good.

So with that said I am going to have to modify the design from the 10ft drop to about a 4-6ft drop, even that might give me to much speed.

Anyway will keep posting updates.

That's a bit tricky. I am gonna make a guide of sorts. Basically u want to drill the hole for the screw, then take a large bit and drill into the same hole, but only enough so that the top of the screw is BELOW the top of the top sheet. Then sand around it so there are no rough edges.

Erm don't have it in front of me. I will post it in the morning. Any kind works, just best not to have chemicals in it, and be bio degradable so ya dont own the environment.

Ok my cam wasn't working so I wasn't able to take pix of building the frame, however its a good thing.

Its far from professional haha. Was definitly a bit rushed when I built it. With that asside it is super sturdy and will do the job just fine.

I will post pics later.

I am currently re-building the ramp, waiting on the plastic, and then going to figure out the lip.

I think there should be enough speed to lessen the steepness of the ramp, and build a 2-3ft lip right at the end of it, so it will create a QUICK pop, but enough of a pop that you can get 270 on. Also the quicker the pop the less time u have to think which is key for me. Goal of building this is to be able to 270 on without thinking about it at all, and to be better at spinning them in short distances.


Anyway will post again when I am done with the ramp part.

Just tested the ramp/flats out OMG. I have got the WORST rug burn on my leg. haha

The ramp was off center, so my skis went flying off the ramp to the left, while my bod went to the right, yeh lotsa fun.

Anyway its up and working, just waiting on the plastic to build the switch up practice box.

Still trying to figure out the 270 thing, I think its just gonna be a try it or dont situation. I can spin 450 on the ground so I should be able to spin 270 onto the box without any lip.

Time will tell I guess.

but ive made a deal with the local mountain that if i worked for them for a couple hours i could bring my carpet ramps over and hit there rails and boxes recently ive been hitting like this foot high 12ft long box super nice only a year old im so pumped ive been skiing a shit load this summer

Ok yeh def been hitting the thing since I finished it. I still have to add the coping, and the ramp is a bit slow with soap. Gonna be trying wax soon. It works fine for 270 on. I need to set up my hosting again so I can upload the pics.

I have a 16ft flat box built, and an 8ft up/8ft flat switch up practice box. With a few sheets of plastic left over.

I am still trying to get Auto CAD to load up on my comp. My hardware key got messed up so I am trying to crack it.

i think its called countersinking the screw, there are actually screwdrivers made to do all that^ at once, for putting up sheetrock, dont know how itd work on this plastic though
