my suggestions:

1. snapcase - break the static
if you want something hard and fast, that is like the perfect song to edit to because of the timings and breakdowns.

2. talking heads - and she was
real easy beat to work with, and this would just be a fucking cool song for a seg.

3. the clash - should i stay or should i go
perfect editing beat. plus a nice tempo changeup in the middle, then it switches back. good for editing. great song.

4. the appleseed cast - mile marker
this would be really interesting, i think. kinda bouncy, kinda slow. you gotta be smooth to use this one.

5. hey mercedes - our weekend starts on wednesday
perfect punk rock anthem. good tempo. and good words to live by, especially for skiers.

yeah don't ask people for music, you won't find the perfect shit in one day, i just listen to every kind of music and visualize a segment i'm editing to the music, because audio is half of the video it needs to be good and it needs to fit, don't pick music that you like to listen to, pick music that fits

yea the guy above me said it really well, when you find the segemnt song, youll know it. another tip on the originality if yoube heard it on the radio you prob shouldnt use it unless its a fucking classic like... lynard or floyd...maybe even falco, but the song really has to click with you to make a good seggy for you

DJ Shadow all the way, I love his stuff like Changeling, Midnight in a Perfect World, and the Number Song (Cut Chemist remix). In SM2 CR's and Philou's parts have Possessed by Demons from Dislocated Styles, I know its already in that movie, but its an awesome song if you can find it anywhere (I found it on kazaa)
