On behalf of Canadians everywhere I'd like to offer an apology to the
United States of America. We haven't been getting along very well recently
and for that, I am truly sorry. I'm sorry we called George Bush a moron. He
is a moron but, it wasn't nice of us to point it out. If it's any
consolation, the fact that he's a moron shouldn't reflect poorly on the
people of America. After all it's not like you actually elected him.

I'm sorry about our softwood lumber. Just because we have more trees
than you doesn't give us the right to sell you lumber that's cheaper and
better than your own.

I'm sorry we beat you in Olympic hockey. In our defense I guess our

I'm sorry about our waffling on Iraq. I mean, when you're going up

Finally on behalf of all Canadians, I'm sorry that we're constantly
apologizing for things in a passive-aggressive way which is really a thinly
veiled criticism. I sincerely hope that you're not upset over this. We've

wow, I knew NS.com had some stupid users, but this is beyond stupidity.

None of you can actually make a statement reguarding the war unless you actually know how to back it up. The only people I know who should debate this issue are people who understand it. Most of us do not understand this issue at all. We know there is a war about weapons and oil....that is basicly all we know. Some of us even display some knowlage of some facts. A fact is not something we think is a logical argument such as:

FACT = BUSH IS A MONKEY TURD WHO LIKES TO EAT HIS OWN POO.

A fact is something proven by research such as:

FACT = Saddam has killed more than 30,000 of his own citizens with posionous gas.

But unless you actually understand this issue; Simply...shut up.

saddam has killed a documented 130,000+ innocent people, it is accurately estimated that the death toll is 200,000+.

its not about the oil. if it was then we would have taken the oil during the gulf war...instead we helped the iraqis put out their own oil fires.

war does suck and innocent people will die, but in retrospect of all that have been killed by this tyrant and his accomplices, innocent lives are worth the risk. risk the lives of a few to save many is a valid humanitarian belief.

the US is not going to war with iraq. we are going to war with saddam and his regime, which is why we asked him to leave the country. if he leaves the country then we leave iraq alone. if saddam was even a halfway decent person he would leave the country even if it wasnt honorable because lives of his people would be saved.

saddam put his weapons to use in war in highly populated areas so that we are forced to kill more innocent people. (but hey its about the oil you say right?)

saddam and his regime torture, murder, and rape men and woman some as young as 12 years old.

if it was about the oil we would say that we are going to invade whether or not saddam leaves, but is not the case is it?

saddam warned the US in the last 24 hours that he will resort to chemical weapons use if we invade (he is threatening to use weapons against the US that he previously said he didnt have???...weird)

saddams own people are buying chemical and bio hazard gas masks because they are confident that saddam will use bio and chemical weapons, which supposedly saddam said he didnt have.

liberals are illinformed. they protest because war is bad and because innocent people will die. they are unaware of the big picture. maybe you would have different thoughts if your son or daughter was taken from you and then raped and beated and even killed.

canadians dont have a clue on what is going on. they just keep saying bush sucks....fuck bush...bush sucks...he is stupid....blah blah blah. they have no supporting arguments.

saddam puts the entire world at risk, which many people fail to see for whatever reasons. maybe they need to lose some family members in a building that get hits by a plane...then maybe people would have a clue.

the public feels that the US is acting alone in this matter which is totally false. the US has 20 supporting countries, which offer significant help.

the US should give France back to Germany.

SUPilot, your point of trying to say that the war is not about oil because we will not attack Iraq if Saddamn leaves Iraq is completely null.

If anything, it further displays the possibility of this being an oil related war. Because if Saddamn leaves Iraq, they will not have a leader, and we will essentially be in the doo already and a step ahead on trade.

Now, I really do not know if this war has anything to do with oil. I am not one to say it is. However, it is an unproven attack, and as was said early, for a country that lives by the motto for their justice system, 'Innocent until proven guilty' we are being quite contradicting because it has yet to be PROVEN by the governing body of the WORLD that Iraq has the weapons that we claim they do.

Also, you cannot use terrorism and the war on as a cause for the invasion of Iraq. bin Laden has stated in videos that he would support iraq in a war against the US, but then for close to 10 minutes, went on to condemn Iraq and their lack of devotion to the Arab cause.

And also, how can a war so unpopular, before it has even started, still occur? Hundreds of millions of people have protested almost weekly around the globe, in Washington DC, and other global hotspots. That is a figure of people that feel SOOOOOO strongly to go all the way to these places to march in the name of peace. That doesn't even take into account the amount of people who cannot attend these rallies due to other responsibilities or that are just against it but don't feel that strongly. I'd love to see a way to ask every single person in the US, their thoughts on the war. Pro or against, and see the results. But that cannot happen.

Also, I am utterly ashamed that Newschoolers.com has dropped to the point where a thread is nothing more then bashing each other, not using points, and just relying solely on flagerent name-calling.

Steve... why did you ignore the point that we didn't touch Iraqi oil after the first Gulf war... also, why is it that the only country that DOES get oil from Iraq (France... and Iraq is a major oil supplier to France) not a part of this war. Also... wouldn't it just be easier to push for a releasing of trade embargos on Iraq to get oil?

i understand propaganda does shape people, but as US citizens we have access to every possible means of information (that is available to us). the iraqi people dont. even bush's speach last night was altered in order to make it appear with negative intentions in iraq. you cant sit there and tell me that propaganda plays such a monumental role in america given our out reach of knowledge which comes from millions of different sources which are not filtered out by our government. that is not the case with iraq.


and that video is not propaganda...its a video of this guy interviewing people that massed to protest. you should def watch it.

whoa some people need to do some research before they start talking. We didn't touch Iraqi oil in the first Gulf War because we didn't even go into Iraq. We didn't have congressional or UN approval to go into Iraq. Taking over Iraq was never the goal. And you know who else imports Iraqi oil??? That's right, the good ol U S of A imported nearly 22 million barrels of Iraqi oil in 2002. Although that is down from about 29 million barrels in 2001.

We only import ~20% of our oil from the Middle East. around 15% of that is from Iraq which we import under the Oil for Food program. However, when it was discovered that Saddam was funneling money FROM the oil for food program, US Imports from Iraq dropped over 90%.

By attacking Iraq and killing all those people...Bush is breeding another generation of anit-american terrorists, and in the long run, he's going to lose the political war seeing how most of the world is against the invasion of Iraq. Its been proven that a senator's (or some figurehead's)daughter was paid 10million dollars to go on tv and say that saddam was pulling the resporators out of babies. so alot of the news is bull. just take it with a grain of salt.

Well SUpilot had a really good post up there, kinda changed my opinion abit. Ya but this war is kinda like the Armada ski thing, there's been so much talk about it before it happens that I dont really give two shits about it anymore. haha bush knewe that saddam wouldn't leave, so they were confidet they could still get oil, yes saddam kill innocent but still war is not justified, but i still wonder if the US administration know something we don't so im not judging it, but i RECKON they should use more forcefull united nations inspections like use the army to back up the inspecters and fend off BADYS instead of go full out war! thats what im saying.
