I'm sure the bike is fine for XC, but if you look at it, the rear suspension is probably the most retarded design I've ever seen. The BB/cranks are on the rear triangle, so they move along with the rear wheel. That's gonna make any bumps, especially stutter bumps really hard on your legs. On the plus side though, it looks like the rear wheel only moves about an inch before it hits the seatpost, so there wont be much of an effect on you.
i think you should take apart that bike and use any good components it has and rebuild a bike... thats pretty much what me and my dad do, and taht way its really easy to just replace one thing and not the whole bike
plus you can pick out what parts you want specifically. and its fun. and you learn stuff about your bike.
The fox float is the only good compontent on your bike, I'm sorry. Shwinn are those bikes you buy at walmart, but if your really into xc I guess that will survive you a summer.
if you're really into xc you'll never survive the summer haha
not with that bike
especially if you're doing technical stuff or singletrack or anything, especially because you're frame looks pretty old (and a bit suckish as schwiin tends to be) and it looks like you've got about 3 inches of travel on your fork.
no worries, though haha
