Kids are too worried about getting sponsered

here is my little rant about sponsorship. basically i think that it is way overrated. if you really work hard and get a real hookup than that is definatelly sick and you chould get some credit for that, but all these kids now are devoting their career to getting sponsored. i guess if it helps ur self-esteem than whatever, but the fact is that most of ur parents will buy you whatever you want at the beginning of the season. and if you have any talent than you will get hooked up by people even if you aren't sponsoered. but ur gonna ski the same anyways so who cares if you are sponsored. thoughts?

i def agree ev one seems to be skiing only to get sponsored and they're loosing the amazinglyfun aspect of skiing, but with that being said i have to admit it would be dope to get hooked up when you go through 2-3 pairs of skis countless bingdings and shred uur cloths all up cause shit ain't cheap esp. when you pay for it ur self

i think sponsership is a good thing...for most....it pushes young kids to get better, it benefits the less fortunate kids who cant get everything they want from there parents...and all you guys who say just get a job....y? y go get a job and "work your ass off" when you can do what you love and get free shit....i guess it could be a bad thing for kids who do it for the wrong reasons...but fuck em...you dont have to ski with them...if the people you want to ski with are the kids that arnt sponsered...then good for you...but i would prefer skiing with kids that are sponsered because most likely they are better than me...and i can look up to them...

companys like people that attract attention and promote themselves and more importantly their skis. You don't think other profeshional athlets enjoy the celebrity status? I'm sorry I just can't see anything wrong with that. If they have the talent and the drive to become sponsored they'll get what they deserve. I think it's dumb for all you guys to care so much if someone want's to get sponsored.

yeah. just ski. if you're good enough, people are going to want you. i hate kids that try to weasel their way to the top. it's much cooler to just do your thing, and have people notice you on their own

Yeah by people being to concerned about getting sponsored it's getting more and more competive, and the some of the fun is taken out of it.

well most people wouldn't be able to work full time and go to school full time, and get 114 days of skiing in. I don't know what Bard is though, maybee it's a nice school with night classes. And you went skiing on your lunch break. It seems a little impossible to do that much but if you can pull it off good job. But don't you wish those 10 skis you own were free? And as far as paying tuition there's no way you're paying it straight up per semester. You gotta be milking loans. In any event you work more hours and skied more days than me so you win. I live in the ghetto, I'm very poor and I just quit my job because workin' for the man sucks.

that is just basically the entire mentality of skiing (and snowboarding) these days. a lot of kids ski just to get good and look cool and get sponsored. they think its all about getting sponsored and having the coolest gear and stuff. almost every person ive skied with is guilty of this at least a little bit (including myself) we shouldnt worry about it, just remind yourself every once in a while why you really love to ski
