its where a paragraph of writing is written in code so each letter is replaced by another letter.. but if "y" replaces "t" then wherever there is a "y" that is a "t"

most common characters are 'e' and ' ' (space)

grouping frequency of a letter appearing:

group 1: h, r, s, t, i, n, o, a, t
group 2: c, u, d, l
group 3: b, p, g, y w, m, f
group 4: v
group 5: k
group 6: x, q, z, j

where in each group, you are less likely to find a letter in that group than you are from the previous group
