Why do we need a gravity fed pipe?

while skaters and bladers dont. i know bikers can peddle to get more speed. but all bladers and boarders can do is pump. and we can pump on our skis. so why dont we have halfpipes on level ground?

cause it would be an incredible pain in the ass to get the snowcat underground, especially after digging the enormous hole.

bearings werk better than skis.
but, you could use rocket skis.

Skis create a shit load of friction compared to something with wheels

well like dismiss the hole youd have to make. i think it can be done. dont see why not. maybe bearings allow for more speed. or maybe we just need a HUGE drop in haha

its pretty simple, rolling friction vs. sliding friction

im pretty sure u would lose way to much speed, u couldnt get any higher in the pipe after ur first hit

It could be done, but let me ask you why put it on flat ground taking up soo much of the mountain's base when you got a perfectly wide trail to put it on?

we turned out underground fort from when we were little into a bowl that was like 6 feet deep and like 20 wide and tried that a few years back. you need a ton of speed cause you loose most of it when you transision back up and you only got one sucky hit

hes got it. bladers and skaters have low friction berings, while skis have wax vs. snow.

have you ever ridden a shitty flat pipe? Well if you have you'd understand.

because snow is slower than wheels and because in our sport people want to air out over 20 feet

holy fuck this dundundun kid is a fucking moron.
unless he is a 13 year old downsyndrome kid, then he is about average.
and lastly, bmx'ers dont fucking pedal on the halfpipe unless theyre shit.
its called being smooth

I think if the pipe wasn't sloped the lip would get mangled from people carving up it. The longer pipe makes more room to have a gouge free hit.

it'd get wrecked too quick.

we probably could, but we just wouldn't boost out as much. Which leads me to wonder if skaters and bladers would get a lot more air if they used gravity fed pipes. I guess the problem is that a 500 ft gravity fed halfpipe would take up a lot of space in a skate park. Not that it hasn't been done...

just ride a flat (as in having pitch, but not much) pipe and youll see that there is no way in hell it would work. skis and wheels arent the same

Hahaha, they would have the hardest time in a gravity fed pipe... it just wouldn't work.

they dont have edges to keep them from going downhill, and turning the downhill speed into speed up the wall. the wheels wouldn't grip well enough for that to work out well.
