i mean all you're doing is tricks in the air and landing or screwing your skis on rails or something like that. are air tricks really considered skiing, which is supposed to be on the snow? what are youre opinions. im not against it, im just asking so dont be a hater
Who the heck cares what your 'skiing' on. If you have skis on its skiing. So what if someone spends their entire day in the park...does it really effect you that much? Do you hate them becasue they can do stuff you can't? Why is there all this stupid ass hate between everyone. If your on the snow you should be having a good time, weather your skiing down steeps, groomers, park, pipe, whatever. I just hate things like this...I mean it really is fuckin stupid, all these people kissing ass saying that yeah...they do respect park skiers.. but don't think its skiing?...wtf? The whole point of the sport when you first put on your first pair of skis to go skiing for the first time was to go have fun! So now that we have all been on skis for a while, we do what we think is going to be fun!
also...where are u skiing 60 pitch? only in like ak, or maybe bc...maybe some other places in co like tele or something? but 60 is some serious steep shit!
ok for the first quote... no not anyone can learn it, otherwise we'd all be pros.
as for the second quote i took... what about the other way around...what about someone that skis outside the park but sucks ass in the park...does that make them a good skiier? no! and yes i think its the same way for park. I think that you need to be a well rounded skiir! However, whatever your better at is going to be considered what your best at... so you may be labled as a park skiier or backcountry skiier, or urban skiier. whatever!
Think of it this way...in baseball there are all sorts of postions, but an first baseman doesn't get looked down upon becasue his golve is shaped differently than the pitchers, or because he can't throw an 90 mph fast ball...its what he does, its what hes good at!
for the most part i think you've got, but to add on, for me i consider myself a really good skier because i know how to ski the mountain and i still can do some stuff in the park. it's all about finding a balance. there are plenty of park skiers and big mountain skiers and racers, etc... but i try to be a skier plain and simple
so whos a better skier...a kid who can jump cliffs...go in a race coarse and can rip it up on the grommers and then heads over to hit a 40 foot jump everyonce in a while and can spin of a 20 (360) or
the kid who can hit 60 footers with a 180...or can pull a rodeo 5 on the 40 and can 7 on a 30...can disaster the down flat and then go 270 on 270 off the 15 ft box...
lol i pretty much already have and to other poeple: skiing is about skiing on SNOW not on air cuz thats what it was for. But park rules too. its cool for the kids that can do awesome stuff i can do some of that stuff too but im sorry: i dont consider people who can ski and jump and land well good skiers. I think that they should be using the ski for what its designed for: skiing, which the definition is: making turns down a mountain on skis.
Skiing is skiing period. And as far as skill goes, it all depends on the person. If all they do is ski park nonstop and cant do anything else then thats their decision. Personally i like riding all terrain but prefer park. I can carve and mantain some pretty good form over most stuff, but seeing how im riding park skis i cant do a whole lot of high speed carving. The fact of the matter is there are people who are good at park and nothing else, people who are good at park and everything else, people who are good at everything except park, the list goes on and on. But skill is still skill. If someone can pull a sw 1440 then they have skill. Don't diss it if you cant do it. I personally would not race because it seems to high stress, but thats just me and i wont dis people who do it.(unless they are the cocky piece of shit racers)Moral of this whole thing: Respect other skiers' talent, and dont dis something because you choose not to do it.
its my opinion and i can share it im not trying to hate its just...gah i cant imagine why someone would ski park all day what is there thats so much better than the mountain? i mean skis were designed for that
stop fucking aruging about this. skiing is something that is supposed to be fun, enjoyable, not comtemplated over. the reason I ski is so i can forget about all the contemplating, and just fucking ski. its people like you guys that make it hard to do that.
no offense but you dont have to look at the thread if you dont want to...im only asking a simple question that people seem to get pissed off about its really not that big a deal.
1. im not trying to convert anyone out of park
2. i like skiing park, so why would i diss it? in fact, i compete
3. skiing is supposed to be fun, yeah!!!
alright. well thsi is a skliing website, so it should be fun too..right?...well sorry but i dont find contemplating the meaning of what i love to be fun.
ight someones already prolly wrote this but first of all i want to remember what this website is. its not outside park skiing. its a skiing online community based on newschool style (tricks and stuff)and if park skiing wasnt skiing y is this website called a skiing community?
are snowboarders still boarders even though they ride park?
skiing is wat u make it whether its park or not park.
when did i ever say it wasn't? what i said was how do people do it all the time was stupid and that people who do it all the time arent always good skiers who rip it up...thats what i said
yea u didnt my fault but i do it all the time and i dont think its stupid because i rather be skiing park with ice then skiing all ice in pa. but if i lived somewhere with powder i would not ski park at all intill i skied a while in pow
yes it is skiing but there is more to skiing than just park like if you can spin cork 9's thats awesome but if you cant ski well in anyother way shape or form then your not as good as you think
