when you guys started tables and stuff and jumps. Like it felt unnnatual to go big?
DO i just need to start smaller and work my way up. or should i keep trying to straight air and/or spin.
I can 180 like good and stuff but it seems like when im going for a 3 im gonna like geek out in air and flail all over the place.
any suggestions?

just commit and you'll be fine. instead of throwing 1's, throw a 3 on the first hit. once you try it once, you wont be scared to try again.

I Kinda have the same issue. I can clear all the tables i've hit, the biggest is like 45 ft, but there is no way i could spin over them I get freaked spinning over like 25 ft tables. I just can't seem to stay calm and collected, i get all nervous and flail.

straight jump it on your first time dont three it. Try to clear it a little long cuz when you spin you dont go as far

thats wierd man, i have a similar, but different, problem with that. i cant seem to ever spin 3s slow enough on kickers bigger than 40ft. i always overrotate and end up having to go 5.
but back to your question, start small with the 3s. get comfortable spinning 360 before you huck yourself off a 30footer trying it. or, just sack up, and go for it. remember, 99.8% of the time when you fall, youre fine.

i guess what im gonna do is, im not sure if im ready for 3's yet so ill try some grab with straight airs and then at the end of the day before i go home ill try a few 3's and if i get fucked up(p18's on my skis) then it'll end my season one day short.
yeah i think i may be more of a rail guy though, still i know i have to work on jumps .

i have no problem hitting large jumps, but i like to watch somebody hit it first, and i find if i just striaght air, i start to roll down the windows. and it looks super sketch

p18s release twisting better than any other binding ive ever had. i double ejected off a flatbox a foot off the ground that way the other day, and i ride my din at 14. i worried about that when i first got p18s too, but trust me, theyre fine. ive actually only ejected forwards once.

then tuck up those legs and go for the grab. you wont pull out the windmill.

Haha shit I did that once, and then he next run down I cased the jump on a 3 and slammed my knees into my chin, hurt so bad and I had to get stitches in my chin and tongue cause I bit it.

didnt really read most of the other posts but basically if its a big jump just staright air it til you get comfortable with that amount of air and then 3 it, it may seem really scary in the air but i garauntee (sp?) that after u do the 3 you'll be so pumped and wanna do it again and you wont be scared anymore. You just gotta sack up on that 1st 3.

When going for that first three, is it a good idea to pop? or just go for the rotation?

pop and make sure you are in the air before you start spinning. pop, then spin.

Cool. Def gonna try it when I go back out. Last time I went sking they didn't realy have any kickers and all I could do were 180s off little jumps.

haha no way man, first hit i went for the 3 and just landed back seat, i was so pumped for another un i practically ran up the hill, but then my legs got tired and i started to sweat and i think that led to the getting broke part

I just started spinning off larger tables.
It's actually easier to spin off them than to straight air IMO.
It's obviously more intimedating, but eazsier than small tables.

Nice, I'm gonna have to try them off a large table. Pretty confident I can get the rotation, just have to make sure I stay balanced in the air. My goal is to be able to throw a 360s with the cross. and if can do that I'll go from there

grab, i was really out of control in air until i started grabbing alot. tail grabs help me more than safteys, and now even grabless i am more stable after all the tail grabs.

just because he has nice gear doesnt mean he has to be able to do double cork 1080's. leave the guy alone. that is sort of weird though that he has all those skis and is amajor contributor.....
i beleive i just contradicted myself.

i think the thing you are doing wrong is that you arent leading with your head. look over your shoulder then entire three and spot your landing. if you lead your spin with your head it will force the rest of your body to keep spinning. just remember to pop, spin, look over shoulder, stomp

over 30ish footers all that is necessary for a 3 is to pop and turn your shoulders to start the rotation... if you have any clue about rotating a 3 then u know you just look for the landing, keep looking... you can basically wiggle out of a 270 if absolutely necessary, 3s are wicked fun to float

um... yea first hit on a BIG jump I NEVER ever straight air because it makes me think about the air too much and I get squiggly. Mount Snow's 75-80er I 3 everytime so I focus on trick and grab and spotmy landing. Makes me more comfortable

and actaully I LOVE falling on the first time I hit something. Like my first urban last year I fell got up and was fine and was like "psht commit you arne't goign to get hurt" Big Air comp first hit I fell pretty hard but was fine so I was like"ha can't hurt me" makes me more confident
but I guess trying to fall first hit on a big jump wouldn't be smart huh?

Hmmm i think straight airing is a lot harder then just going for the three the first time. I go all over the place if i straight air it, but it sucks to have to three a jump for the first time bc if you miss and case it then the heels hurt for a week

what kind of table are we considering "big"?
30+ or 40+ or 50+?

don't go into the jump thinking that your gonna probably crash and end your season early. think happy thoughts peter, thats how you get to neverland

Usually I can hit big jumps first try with a spin, also sometimes without checking out the gap by skiing past it. But other times I do get smart and ski past it to check it out but skiing up to the lip and speed checking... Errrr, I cannot do that. Other times with jumps with big lips it takes 2 or 3 jumps before I can feel comfortable with it.

yep jst do it when you feel comfy then trow it, and if you dont do it all day then do it on your last run so if you fuck up you can go home and cry.

yeah same, i just have to see some1 hit it first, but sometimes like off bigger stuff i just roll down the windows and it looks pretty gay, especially if you case,(ouch :-( )

I agree. Whenever I go to straight air a jump just to get the feel of the lip I always don't have enough speed. If I know Im going to do a 3 I get more speed. But my shins have been hurting since almost the begining of the season plus I broke my booster strap, hooray. So get speed and don't land backseat.
