Sportchek sells those things, I heard that Salomon had to change the name of their skis that they marketed in Sportchek so thats why the 1080 Foil is called the Flyer 1080

good job people, way to be ignorant. the flyer is a grom's twintip, that comes in sizes up to 171, so for someone like the creator of this thread, it makes sense for him, because its a softer flexing ski. it is similar to the foil in shape and construction, but it is a little narrower and softer flexing. the crappy salomon sold at sportchek, sports authority, garts, or all those other chains is not this ski. that ski is the thruster with a low end core and base, similar to last year's 420; the 720 with a low end core and base as well. learn your facts before you bash people for not agreeing with your uninformed "facts".

what is the ski at sport chek called? I saw their catalogue and some stores are actually stocking foils, flyers and fish's.
Didn't see any adds for an economy salomon twin.

this site has more uninformed people that gossip than a middle school lunch room full of girls. keep up the owning.

Just checked the Sportchek website, and the only salomon ski they advertise which isnt on Salomon's website is the FISH TT. Definitely (or at least should) not a ski that anyone on this site is looking at...it's a junior junior salomon ski...I dont think it comes in lengths longer than 140, let alone up to 171.
The flyer is advertised as going up to 161, and would be a great ski for someone under 125 lbs.

I was on the understanding that the Flyers the same idea as last year's 720s, but the new lineup, the thrusters were like last years 1080s (which it says on the salomon site so u can say i'm wrong if you want), then there are the foils, gun, and gun labs...
Flyers are available in 171 because I held a pair of them yesterday. Why does everyone assume that sport chek sells a crappier version of the same product that's out there? Would Salomon actually allow this? It would be demeaning to their reputation. This is just what I think anyways...if anyone knows any better for sure please enlighten me because I'm still a little confused over the whole situation

yea you are right. they are just a ski that are made for lighter weight people that come in sizes up to 171. they are more fogiving (flexible) and they r pretty much the same idea as last years 720s, except improved.

Hopefully better...the 720s were a toned-down version of last years 1080 - just without the metaltex sheets - thus softer.
The flyer is more comparable to a toned-down version of the foil it seems.
I'm amazed they are available in 171...the thruster isnt too soft for anyone heavy/tall enought to be riding 171's. The Salomon website says they go up to 161.

Well the 171's i was looking at were in sport chek, that might have something to do with it...I don't get how they can sell something like that. It bugs me a little bit, but w/e lol.
