yah it kinda sucks...i had surgery like 5 years ago and mine has been fine ever since then but it def takes like 6 months to feel good and like a year before you don't even think about it anymore, i guess it depends on how bad it is goin into the surgery too. i had dislocated mine about 15 times before i got it done so it was pretty banged up at that point. if all you really do is ski def put it off until after the season cause you will be already to go by the beginning of the next season

i cant put it off. my collar bone is sitting two inches to high and 2 inches back digging into muscle. i need to have surgery soon so my collarbone does heal digging into muscle. that would be bad. it is a type 5 injury to my ac joint. 1-2-3 can go with out operation. 4-5-6 have to have surgery. 5-6 within two weeks.

i did my rotator cuff a few years ago. i didn't get surgery, i just did PT to build up the muscles around it. it's not 100 percent, but it's close. depending on what exactly you did to your shoulder, trying that first may be a good idea.

If the docs say surgery, suck it up and enjoy the drugs... and then DO YOUR GODDAMN PT for as long, and longer, than they tell you to. A surgery won't help much if you don't strengthen up the muscles afterwards.
I had a problem with dislocations for a few years and eventually the ball part of the joint formed a depression called a hills-sachs lesion, basically means that when the joint dislocates it gets jammed out of place and its fucking hard to get back in. Went under the knife two winters ago and it's all good now, although I still can't throw a baseball like I used to be able to.

I dislocated my left shoulder at the beach in Whis this year fighting a couple of Aussies that were being loud and obnoxious. I put it back in myself.
Then I dislocated my right one on new years at a rail jam and had to set it myself as well. Shoulders suck. I'll get surgery eventually.....

sweet business. pt is something i have done before. i can handle that. it feels a little better every day. i cant lift my arm at the shoulder, cant pick anything up, cant hold anything that is like over 3 lbs, cant pull on anything that ways more then like 3 lbs. otherwise it feels like my arm will pull out.
