I think you can't go wrong with PEs.
I've been riding them since last summer and the kills allmountain! I didn't notice they get softer that much, just a lil' bit.
If you buy PEs, the only thing you had to think about is the mounting position for the bindings. You got a lot of thread about it here and also on www.k2factoryteam.com
According to me :
midsole(0) to +4 is 80%Pow/20%Park
+4 to +6 is 60%Pow/40%Park
+6 to core center(+7.5) is allmoutain riping!
Further than core center is mostly parkskiing to only parkskiing.
That's my opinion.
