in general, men are much better drivers than women. that's not being sexist, just stating a fact.
most women lack a certain common sense about how things work, especially machine related things (i.e. cars..). how they make up for it is with the 'book smarts' thing. while women may retain knowledge better, they just don't understand how things work the way a guy can.
...this relates to cars in this way..
almost any guy driving on a twisty road will race around and have some fun. he'd go way over the speed limit and take turns hard, etc. a girl would probably do the same thing.
here's the difference..
the man will accelerate on straights, brake at the right spot for a turn, go wide, and turn in to hit the apex of the curve, get back on the gas once it's straight and safe... and not have any clue that he's following the most basic racing principles. the man will take into account the vehicle's properties like size, weight, performance capabilities, tires, suspension, etc... and again, even if he has no experience or knowledge about racing, he will not even think twice about the fact that he's doing what every race car driver does naturally. in *most* cases, the guy will not out drive his ability because he has a most basic instinct to respect the machine and knows to let it perform to it's capabilities, whether it's a minivan or a fully built race car.
the female though, will be talking on her phone and/or yelling at/joking with/talking to someone in the passenger/back seat, while putting on her makeup and eating breakfast. she will fly on the straights, brake too hard and too late for the turn, turn in too sharp, spin the back end, and go straight into a ditch/tree/wall/etc (whatever happens to be *inconveniently* in her way at that particular time). she will climb out of her gigantic SUV, realize that it's not a ferrari, open her cell phone, and call daddy/husband to come pick her up so she can get to her tanning appointment NOW. it won't even occur to her that she just tried to take a turn at 45mph in her monster truck sized SUV that a hardcore sports car would slow down to 35mph for... she'll think it's the cars fault and go out and buy the latest model with "traction control" so it doesn't happen again.
i guess my point is.. women should not drive unless taught by a man. not to be sexist, but it's just that it would be much safer for all of us.
sorry for the long post, but it had to be put into proper terms. haha.
