I want one of those things you can put in your car to tell when there's cops around, because I'm always afraid I'm gonna get pulled over for speeding. the cops always hide out in random places to try to pull people over.

I don't think 3 points is a sspension, I got caught going 72 on a 50, got a 192 fine, and 3 points, and I got to keep my license. At the time, I had only had it for two weeks, so I think you'll be fine

those don't work, if your radar detector is detecting radar, it means they already have a gun on you.

I think 3 and u lose it, but i always thought u needed to go 14 over the limit to get 3 points. That sux though.

It doesn't matter how fast you're going to get 3 points. It's 2 points if you're on a highway and 3 if you're in a residential. And it is 3 points and you're license is gone.

thats not true. whey they shoot cars with radar there is spray all over the place which is what the detector picks up. now if you are the only car on the road, then you're fucked

yeah, that's what I meant. if you're in a line of traffic, you're probably not going to be speeding anyway

i don't suspect you lose it for that, seems kinda rediculous to lose a licence for going 12 over...

you could try taking it to court... just say that you admit you were speeding and all that, but just say you can't lose your licnese because you need to drive to work. that's what my friend did, and he got 2 points taken off the ticket. it's worth a shot

I got a ticket doing 101 on the highway... (65) in ohio... 4 points on license when its normally 2 and 3 months without my license. talk about shitty. however, it was only a 45 buck ticket with 45 buck court fees.

can anyone confirm this? its probably just internet crap but, i just read that if u send in a like 10$ dollars more witht the check than they have to send you the 10 bucks back and if you throw the check away they cant give you points because all financial transactions must be complete.... sounds fony, but anyone know?

Just talk to the cop. I got a 19 over ticket, called the cop and asked him if he could drop the points because I was mentoring a little kid and I HAD to drive to see him (true story, didnt make it up), and he was very polite and said "Yep, no prob. If a kid's really polite about their ticket and they come talk to me, I usualy drop their points." So just try that.

Or you could move to Washington and not have to worry about stupid points... Seriously... Who thought of that? Pretty gay if you ask me.

I think it's a good idea, simply for the fact that if there's a 16 year old kid with 5 tickets, they obviously aren't mature enough to drive and could cause some serious damage, knowing that he can't lose his license. Other than that, meh.

Yup its 3 Im pretty sure. I coulda lost my liscense the first time I got a ticket because I was going 40 over the limit in a 55 haha. Oyyyy...Anyway he only wrote me up for 75 in 55 and it was $140 and 2 points. I lucked out for sure. They should've been towing my car.

In WA they take your license until your 18 if you've gotten two tickets... Or for stuff like reckless driving or DUI, DWI.

In montana you need like 15 points to get it suspended for like 6 months? thats like 3 speeding tickets and a DUI haha.

Oh ok, then it's the same in VT, except instead of just tickets, they count the points each ticket is worth.

the officer is off duty but im gunna call in tomorrow and just be like "hello my name is blah blah blah, i was puled over saturday night, I was wondering if there is anyway you could reduce the charge from 3 points to two just becuase i drive my neighbors and younger sister to school everyday, and have been working at mcdonalds(i dont work there anymore but wanted to start again maybe)" but i dont know if they are allowed to reduce the charge once they have it in the records...

Actually, don't do that. Just say "Hello My name is Lil John, I received a ticket from you on Saturday night and I was wondering if there was a time I could come and talk to you about it, I'd really appreciate your time"

That's because you'll be more likely to get the points reduced if you bring it up politely and in person. They see it as more effort put in on your part to actually make an appt to get to the station to talk to the officer.

they will probably reduce it for you anyway to malfunctioning vehicle. I'm pretty sure talking to the cop won't do anything. One time I wrote the judge a letter and got a 6 point ticket reduced to zero points.

Phrosty, I said above that I went into a VT cop (south burlington) and talked to him and just said that I know I broke the law, I have no problem paying the fine, just that it would be cool if he could drop the points. He agreed and dropped them.

i thought it depends on whether the judge is in a good mood or not

Well if you talk to the cop and he drops the points, you pay the fine and you don't even go to court, so it doesn't depend on the judge.

and to think i drove up to killington all the time last year going way faster than 12 over.... VT got some crazy drivers tho, middle of a snowstorm and some guy does a 4 or 5 car pass on rt 100, where it's super curvy... haha wow

It's just cause we know how to drive in the snow. I had a whole 2 week part in drivers ed in driving in snow and evasive driving.

that's only bc.... and it was $1000 for my driving lessons with young drivers.
i hate the new rules, with ur N (which u have to have for 2 years i think), you can only drive with one other person in the car unless you have someone else who is over 25 with you. so if we go to the movies with 10 people, we have to take 5 cars (although we hardly ever follow those rules, most of the time we take 3 cars for 10 people)

you were doing 42 in a 30 and the cop is an asshole? he was just doing his job.
