Jesus Christ, this is like talking to toddlers.
Mad River Glen is a Co-op, meaning it isn't any longer owned by one person, but by hundreds of people, who buy shares in the mountain. The share-holders have meetings, and every year vote on issues, one of them being whether or not they should allow snowboarders. Every year, it has been a no. Mad River has better and longer lasting powder than anywhere else in the northeast, because:
A. 90% of the skiiers are advanced, and know how to ski well, because of the mostly expert tarrain covering the mountain, thus don't scrape off the snow.
B. Snowboarders scrape off much more snow than skiiers, there isn't any denying it. MRG doesn't make snow, so the snow the sky gives them is all they get. The co-op wants to preserve it as long as they can.
They're not doing it to be assholes, and they sure as hell aren't in it for the money. They'd have a 30% greater annual income if they allowed snowboarders. They make these decisions to create as good a skiing enviornment as possible, meaning more snow and a mountain not nearly as crowded as most others. Also, if you've skiied MRG, you know that almost every single trail has moguls, which snowboarders like to stay out of anyway. If you don't like it, Sugarbush is 2 miles down the road. I haven't skiied anywhere else that has come close to giving me the kind of experience I get every time I go to Mad River. Not having snowboarders is a huge part of that.
