Random drug testing at school

my new school has random drug testing. i don tthink its right for schools to do so. do any other schools do this?

You dotn have to do it. At my school there is this thing called the rat box, and soemone puts there name in it. Then the school calls the parents and sees if they want there child to get tested.

umm what kind of school is it, a private school, because if its a private school they can do whatever the fuck they want, and even if it is wrong you cant do shit, other than leave the school, which is what you should do because your paying them, but if it actually is a public school, thats some serious bullshit because you really dont have any other options, bu i doubt a public school would be able to drug test students anyways

Sometimes. If a teacher thinks a kid is on drugs then they will put it in. But some students use it as a revenge tool on people.

its a public school. they pick 10 names per week and you ahve to go to the nurses office and pee ina cup. if you dont sign the waiver saying that you are going to be randomly tested then you cant drive to school nor can you do any etra curricular activities or sports.

its not illegal, schools have special rights when it comes to that. It falls under saftey. Im sure when you register in all the paperwork that you sign, you sign something making it ok.

we've got the student assistance team at my boarding school..SAT... if you get SAT'ed, you sign a no use contract, and they can test you whenever they want. If your not under it, and they dont catch you stoned, your pretty much fine

so what if you test positive, do it and then tell them to lick your nuts, and then if they take away your privileges for it just talk to the ACLU and theyll prolly sue the shit out of your school or whatever, but my whole point is that i think this has go to be illegal in some way and if you actually did something about it they couldnt really do anything

its not if you sign a waiver to participate in sports or attend school knowing that you could be randomly tested, you waive all of your rights to sue b/c you signed a piece of paper.

Random drug testing at school is ridiclous. It's part of the campaign in this "War on Drugs" which has already taken a backseat to the War on Terror and post-Iraqi Freedom. DEA Agents are being cut from their drug task force related projects, the funding isn't there, but there is still a push to "rid the world of drugs".

Random drug testing in schools is just to "weed" out the potsmokers. The testing is conducted on a unregulated schedule, about every few weeks. This time span only allows for mainly cannibus to stay in the students system, while any real other form of drugs can pass through in less than a week tops. This isn't random drug testing, its weekly marijuaua screenings.

You're a little too un-educated possibly to know this but when you enter in that school, you give up certain rights. This is due to the fact the schools has the power to do what they feel needed to protect the children that are in their care. They are fully responsible for what happens to you when it's on their time (a.k.a. the school day). If they feel drug tests are needed then yes, they can do so. Of course if you still think it's illegal look at other examples such as having to stay in class during final or mid-term exams. Just leave class and if you get in trouble, bring them to court for wrongful inprisonment. Oh and be sure to check back in with us to tell us how badly you lost the court case in addition to the thousands of dollars spent on your lawers and court fees all for nothing.

That's fucked up for a few reasons.
1.) Kids do drugs for reasons not having to do with the drugs themselves.
2.) Drug tests cost money, tax money that we, as a country anyway, dont really have to blow on busting some stupid kids that are IN school.
3.) Let's put money into busting meth labs because those are way gay yall.
4.) While drugs themselves certainly detract from learning (what I think is or used to be why kids go to school) the stigma of constant looming drug tests is something kids shouldnt have to worry about, unless they play Lacross (those kids are jerks).

that might just be your school, because the fact that my area is uppermiddle class and white is probably why we have so many drug precautions. id say a third of the kids in my highschool have at least one parent who is a lawyer and we still have drug dogs at the school once a month. searching the lockers and now the parking lot too. and im not sure about the drug testing, i think they are just going to start doing it to participate in school sports (they might already, im not sure).
they usual secenario at my school is:
rich kid gets money from parents.
rich kid buys drugs.
rich get is stupid and gets caught.
rich kid gets suspended/expelled.
rich kid's lawyer parents try to cover it up as best as possible.
rich kid ends up at boarding/private school.

simple solution do something besides pot, most drugs don't stay in your system longer than a day or two. the main thing they are testing for in the so called "drug" test is marajuana because it is pretty much the only drug that leaves tracesinside your body for extended periods of time. So go drink or do something other than pot and you should be fine.
