Why I hate newschool

This sport is becoming ridiculous. I need a ski thats more center mounted. I need a ski thats 15% stiffer. I need a new oakley outfit. Are these bindings light enough so that I'll be able to spin 1440s?
I had a pair of skogens missing a total of 18 inchs of edge under both boots. after two season on them I got a pair of used of 1080s, from the first season they were made. and I still am better then at least 75% of the people skiing on twins, and thats not saying much.
People piss me off, somehow they rationalize that if they get new skis that are better they amazingly get better, guess what a ski wouldn't make a difference on how good your are.
And skiing is a fucking fashion show, sure I expected that from yuppies, thats their thing. But fuck, you don't need new clothing every year to make up for the fact that you suck on the mountain. Im skiing in the spring in dickies coveralls, because it will probably piss other people off. ok, Im done w/ my rant

dude chill....new shit is cool and i dont know how you can dog it. did something happen to you?...did somebody touch you? who gives a shit...there are posers in every sport that always have the new shit...nothing you can do about it. if it really bothers you then dont ski. who cares what others wear and ski on? i know i dont. if your good your good and thats all there is to it. if you suck then you suck...so be it, but hey if i sucked i would buy cool new shit too. the sport hasnt become a fashion...at least where i ski (CO,VT,CA), but hey maybe you ski aspen too much.

wtf. I got new skis, new bindings, a new coat, helmet, gloves, and poles this year. Why? not because I think it'll make me better. It's because i've outgrown all my stuff. dude, last year i was skiing on a pair or skis a foot shorter than me, plastic core, dynastar speeds. five years ago when my dad got them for me, they were like 100 bucks. It's not the equipment that makes you good, it's you, and everyone knows that. Stop ranting

I agree with the people above and i'm gonna have to add that new equipement does make you better. Why do you think pros have progressed so much? Yeah there practicing more but there is only so much time you can practice. Watch Plakes seg in ski movie, it sucks compare to every one elses. Why, it is the last year he skied on his 88 k2s. This doesn't mean you have to buy new skis every year but there comes a point where new skis will significantly improve a model that is a few years old.

Yes there are posers out there riding scratchs and wearing a full oakley set up (pants, jacket, goggles and glove) But at the same time everyone knows what your ride doesn't affect how good a rider you are.

The demand for oakley gear and all the hype about the latest skis is proof that this sport is getting bigger and more popular.

So laybay and stay true to the movement - and next time you see that poser go up to him and say 'sup so what kind of tricks you pulling dude, ya sick set up - act like a poser. Then make him hit the jump/rail and watch him get broke. Then you can go up to him and say, you ain't shit peckerwood just a little rich boy playing ski poser!!'

yah VC you shouldn't really care about it, if someone loves the sport enough to go out and spend all their money on new gear, thats cool. If I see some 15 year old kid who has worked an entire summer to afford some new skis and some new ski clothes, but he still what is worng with that?.. he jsut loves skiing and in a way thats how he/ she expresses it. Although I do agree with you in the most extreme of cases. Sometimes in whistler you'll see extremely wealthy tourists (most commonly japanese, no offense) come for a week long trip to try out skiing for their first time, and they will go to the vilage with thier hge wallets full of cash and spend thousands of dollars BUYING , not renting, buying a complete new stup of the best gear and the most expensive clothes, only to leave it all in their hotel room at the end of their week long vacation. That seems kind of wasteful and stupid, but hey.. it makes for cheap used gear I guess.

VC- why does you got to be makin fun 'o the rural folk? i's done skied for ever with these here ovee-alls on. why would't i? whose done said that i's got to change out 'o my clothes just to git up on them snow hills? i knows most folks ain't acustomafied to nebraskanese farmers gone skied on them mounties, but my's wife Jo Hanson and ma son Cletis Jr. done appreciate all them runs we take. so in closing, dont be dressin you self up in them ovee-alls to done prove some point.
