BOMB THROWN AT BUSH

TBILISI, GEORGIA - The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a report that a hand grenade was thrown at the stage during U.S. President George W. Bush's speech in Georgia.

Georgian authorities said they had a report that as Bush was speaking in Tbilisi on Tuesday, a device – possibly a hand grenade – had been thrown within 30 metres of the stage, hit someone in the crowd and fell to the ground.

A Georgian security officer picked up the device and removed it from the area, according to the report.

The Secret Service had not seen the device as of Tuesday evening, agency spokesman Jonathan Cherry told the Associated Press.

wow... that story is full of speculation that its own facts dont even suport. An "object" was thrown, it then landed 30 meters away from bush and then... nothing happened.

How is that even news?

Besides, 30 meters is a alot to miss someone by. You would think that if someone was trying to kill bush with a grenade (which is just speculation), they would have gotten close enough to actuall hit him, or at least come reasonably close to hitting him, with what ever they were throwing. I know that if something is over 100 feet away, i can't hit it by kicking a rugby ball at it, and i have a pretty decent kick.

Anyone ever hefted a grenade? Those suckers are heavy. If you can throw that thing 100 feet with any degree of accuracy you must have some serious skills. It was probably some drunk lobbing a random piece of debris, this is overreaction. I do think Bush deserves a few assassination attempts, though. I don't want them to succeed or anything, of course... but the attempts would be nice.

the way i see it is that he did actually die but there was a strand of his hair left on the ground so the us governement took it to their secret underground lair and extraced the dna of me bush to make an exact clone, now i know exactly what ur thinkin " doc, your crazy" well that may be but with the help of a sheeps liver and splean the scientist could easily create a living 50 + year old man, plus even if he couldnt talk the intelligence level would be roughly the same

i agree with apple on this one, except for one point. 100 ft isnt really that far, baseball bases are 90 feet apart, so its only another basketball hoop on top of that (to give a visual). or its only 33 yards on a football field, give or take. i have held a grenade, and while it was heavy, 100 feet is a feasable distance, i think. BUT... if it was a grenade, or a bomb, or whatever, how did it hit someone, they pick it up, and remove it, without a kaboom? someone was probally throwing the rest of their bread rations or something.

So I guess one could probably throw a grenade about 100 feet, but the fact of the matter is, he still missed by 100 feet. So either he got within range and then threw the grenade in the completely wrong direction, or he tried to huck this thing from about 200 feet away... I bet it was just a peice of scrap metal or something. Too bad though.
