Replying to Waking up without realizing it

have you ever had times where people woke you up early when you were really really tired and told you something, then you get up again later on and they tell you that they were talking to you that morning and you have no recollection of it? that shit happens to me all the time man, and it's freaking weird. my mom will wake me up early before she goes to work, actually talk to me, and then later on she tells me about it and i actually have no idea what she's talking about.

mom: 'i woke you up this morning and gave you the message, and you said ok'
me: 'huh, what? i wasn't awake this morning'

it's freaking nuts. i wonder how often that happens to us and we just aren't aware of it.
