yeah i watched it too. just another reason VH1 rules. I thought they kinda took themselves too seriously, but all bands do that. especially spinal tap.
ski bum youre signature rules.
I'm sick of following my dreams, I'm just gonna ask where they're going and hook up with them later.

yea dude Lars has some serious issues. the editing was a little sketch at spots. i mean it could've been a lot better. but it was still fun and interesting

just lars ulrich. seriously if you were a musician and all your money came from the sales of cd's, wouldn't you be pissed off when all of the sudden people could get the music for free? then you wouldn't be able to make the payments on your ferrari, or your house, or oyur private jet. you would lose everything and suddenly become poor. yes, lars was the one that started the revolution, but just about every band/artist backed him 100%. don't hate on an entire band because of one guy, and especially not because he wants to keep getting what he has worked hard for and deserves. in this case his money.

if their music really means that much to them and not simply being rich and famous then they would not have done that. also, record sales arnt actually going down since p2p file sharing. Either even if their record sales did go down, they would still be millounares and continue to be millionares. they are just rich whiney bastards. There are planty of people that have as much talent as metallica yet have much much less money, and they beleve in their music as much if not more. I really dont see why I should give my hard earned money to people who are already millionares. call me a communist if you want but... If their music really meant that much to them and they really just wanted their music to be heard, then they definatly did the wrong thing.

and no, many artists think the p2p is jsut fine. take Moby for example. many more well known artists are ok with it too.

If music sales are indeed going down it's because of the price of CDs and because people continue to purchase them at those prices. If the record companies didn't set CD prices at 19-22 bucks per copy I would think that sales would increase, regardless of whether they are currently decreasing.
In regards to file sharing: record sales did not go down when Napster was introduced and widely used. In addition, most bands make the majority of their money from TOURS not their ALBUMS. Only the VERY successful (i.e. METALLICA, Britney Spears, Eminem) make a profit on their record sales because they sell so many copies. CDs are promotional elements and money makers for the record label.
I swap music files, but I also will buy CDs if they are quality. The reality is I would NEVER buy a CD for one song. File sharing allows people who would probably never buy the album anyway to see whether or not they like it. I usually hear music first on MP3 and then purchase the CD if it's quality.
In regards to Metallica: their first 5 albums and Garage Inc. were rediculous. They still kick ass. Now, I completely disagree with the legal action they took. Napster wasn't hurting them in anyway (see above: record sales versus touring profits). More importantly, if they decided to grow their fucking ballsack back and make a REAL album, they'd sell 15 million copies on the first fucking day (exaggeration) and they would tour for 10 years for one album. Their fan base would kill for a "good" album. In this specific example, Metallica's profit losses were marginal and they were due to them SUCKING, not Napster.
To conclude this rant, Christopher Amott of Arch Enemy had a great quote:
MUK: Metallica are creating a big buzz on the mainstream scene. How do you feel about their new album?
Christopher: There's just no good songs. Everybody's complaining about the production, but it's the song writing. I don't mind about production. So I think they've just lost the plot. Fuck...I mean they're 40, they're millionaires. They're not angry anymore...

yeah, i've seen it. exactly true. Lars is a cock, and he made james the way he is. Selfish. James used to be the coolest fucker back in the day but lars made him like he is. Kirk is awesome.
Im really into everything before load. 1983 through to 1991. those kinda 8 years were the best. mainly cause of cliff being amazing. It's no co-incidence that all their best stuff was when he was around.
And his radness, it just can't be quantified
