Start out with not calling people fucking stupid. It takes away credibility right off the bat. You dont have to agree, but be a little more creative than name calling.

Now while your at it go read my previous post a little more carefully and prepare a fork cause your gonna be eating some of your own words. Id say I clearly stated that the Iraq conflict does have to do with oil, therefore, economics, but is definetly not only about that. No where did I compare Saddam to Hitler, even though I maybe should, cause he obviously doesnt seem to care that much about his own people. I, however, stated that as a superpower, Germany went nowhere.

I was unaware of Iraqs contribution to the people of Cambodia. Although, Ive not fully aware of all these millions of people dying, you could be right. However, like I also said the US is definetly not perfect and are already doing more than they really have to. People are still starving everywhere, but at least they are trying to do something. Maybe instead of just feeding them all, they should 'conquer' these nations and take them under their wing. 'You feed a man a fish he eats for a day. YOu teach a man how to fish he eats for life.' But noooo this would be the US sticking their nose everywhere. Instead they are required to feed everyone and give them money just for the hell of it, or because they were asked to.

Furthermore, you say 'decisions made by politicians are based on personal gain.' At least these decisions and gains are based on a representative of the people. The states is afterall, a democracy. Oh but so is Iraq, they had a referendum and everyone voted for Saddam. Saddams decisions are based on soley his own desires. He doesnt answer to the people. So who is more likely to make a wrong, unjust, irreational one? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Is the States suppose to attack all countries at once? They havent even touched Iraq yet, but they got to start with someone. Cant think of a better place to start.

While we are at it. The Opec nations may produce 2/3 of the oil, but they definetly dont contain that. Go ahead and argue.

As far as being against the war goes. Yeah war is bad, but sometimes it has to be done. Better now then when NYC or Washington is a big wasteland. Im not necassarily saying this would happen, but I have no doubt that it easily could.

Ya and lets have more people hate the very country you live in. Do you like being targeted?

Once again there is no need for name calling or death wishes just because someone has a different opinion. A little immature for a person as proffesional as yourself. Instead tell me why I'm too conservative. Is it because I realize there is a definite problem in the world, and just not going to war would be the easy solution?
Believe it or not I actually want to hear what you have to say. If you make a point back it up.

Anyway, maybe its better you concentrate on other things as HD was a damn good movie. I mean that in a good way.

Sorry, I have nothing against gay people but I neither do I support it. Abortion really doesnt concern me all that much- people can do whatever they want. And as far as i know the NRA is an American thing, not Canadian, so its not really something for me to think about.

the way i have always seen it is as a socialist democracy... a mix of the two. there is a fair amount of government controll in the hands of the common citizen, but there also extensive government programs designed to help out in certain cases. we are a far cry from the absolute democracies of the helenist world, and we are also a far cry from the more socialist governments that are in existance today.

It is a limited democracy, mainly a republic. You vote on some issues directly, but for the most part, you choose a representative and hope he follows what you want. That is a republic. The word democratic and democracy gets tossed around so much tho, tha it's lost true meaning. A democracy at its finest is Ancient Greece, where every single issue was voted on by eligable voters. That is a democracy. Our government is modeled greatly after the Ancient Roman government which is a Republic. Any questions?

Well put SkierX. However, true democracy does exists on the local government level in the US, but on a very, very small scale. There are a few very small towns that all people are allowed to attend town meetings and vote on all the issues. Sorry, I beleive I got a little off topic.

Ya, that's why I said 'for the most part' local town meetings, and some national referendum are direct democracy. But still, as a whole, we have to put our lives in the hands of a bunch of men that we hope are qualified.

Obviously the US is not a democracy if Georege W. Bush is in office. Remeber the election... he didn't win... Give me some sort of inteligent argument... Please.

Bush SHOULD NOT be the President of the United States of America today.

Bush is as crooked as they come. As is the rest of the bush family, as well as the administration he has surounded himself with. I have many many sources but I want to hear your argument first.

Bush lost the popular election by 500,000 votes. He is president because of the electoral college, an institution established because the writers of the Constitution distrusted the common man. In a democracy the common man is the one who decides EVERYthing- he votes on every issue. Therefore if we lived in a democracy then George Bush would not be President. If we lived in a democracy we would not have representation- we would represent ourselves. True democracy in a country the size of the United States is impossible, just the way that true communism is impossible. American 'democracy' is really a federal republic that is tending more and more towards oligarchy. 'Special powers vested in the government' to fight a war.... hmmmmm.... America is a Democratic Republic. A democracy is where the people vote on EVERYTHING, all laws, and to declare war or not. A republic is where the people vote for representatives to vote on laws and such. Therefore, America has a Democratic Republic.

There is a reason we have an electoral college. Bear with me here. If there was no electoral college, then the canidates could isolate their political strategies to areas with large populations, say california, texas, and new york. Small midwestern states would not matter, and the issues that they need addressed wouldn't get the kind of attention they deserved. The electoral college keeps the vernacular issues of certain areas still worthwhile in the presidential race. If anything a vote based on the popular vote could be less of a democracy, with the issues of the majority of the concentrated area overriding issues just as valid, to those people not in those areas.

Very true on that. Also, many of you may not realize this, but althought Bush is considered the most powerful man in the world, he actually has less power in his own country then a lot of other leaders. Due to a better political system. Jean Cretien actually has more power in Canada than George Bush has in the US. Come to Canada and you may appreciate your president a little more.

I here alot of you talking about democracy and comunism. It's obvious that democracy and capitalism cannot co-exist realisticly. But communism is not the answer. You have the complete wrong idea. Instead of propaganda from the right your just willingly absorbing and reciting it from the left. Communism is part of the same system of money-- and that is what is wrong with the world, our problems cannot be solved by a shift from the left to the right. Also i here people telling people not to say 'you're fucking retarted' or whatever. Thats rediculous, if you're gonna fuck with this your gonna have to face the fact that you maybee just a fucking moron and I don't think anyone should loose credibility for pointing it out.

Canada does not have a better polical system. Different is the word you should use.

Sim, you are right that Bush does not have as much power within his own country as Chretian here in Canada does, but I don't agree that is a good thing. Canada is all about the fusion of powers and does not have the check and balances that the United States does. Having one man at the top like Chretian has done damage to our country over the last 9 years. Our system has to be changed to something more similar to the Americans, we need the checks and balances to keep a lid on ridiculous programs, spending, and the like.

I don't agree that the United States has a great system, and the Electoral College doesn't work all the well, but as mentioned above something of the sort has to be in place so that states like those in the midwest are not ignored. Canada needs something perhaps more radical to even out the eastern bias.

As far as Bush goes, I agree in part with what he is doing. A lot people are complaining that the US has not shown sufficient proof that Iraq has developed weapons of mass destruction, but Governments, especially the United States don't tend to release that information to the rest of the world. Its called intelligence. Iraqs got them. If they didn't why did the UN weapons inspectors leave in 98'? They weren't allowed access to some sites, and Saddam had good reason not to let them back in. He isn't retarted, albiet he has made a lot of bad decisions.

Fire something back at me, but make sure you are intelligent enough to talk about it.

Anyone who says the electoral college doesnt represent America doesnt know what they're talking about. Without the electoral college, each candidate would focus only on the heavily populated urban areas and everybody else would not be fairly represented. Liberals really need to get over the 2000 election anyway. It was over six years ago and you blew your chance in 2004.

As far as oil. If liberals would allow more drilling off of the gulf coast, I think off of florida or california. There is so much oil out there. We really won't run out for a long long time. People are getting way too worked up on it. Drilling in alaska would be great too. Drilling would be in an area where it wouldn't make that much of an environmental impact. we don't need to be dependant on middle eastern oil.
