Dyes and some paints have chemicals that can degrade the shell and the foam liner, making it so that it doesn't hold up as well in falls and doesn't protect as well

I used to be that way. Then I would end up collecting a few jackets/pants etc and end up using one kit the whole year, except for maybe swapping something out one day. Huge waste of money I realized.

Also for me this year. I'm working my ass off this summer and will buy (assuming my acl is good to go in a reasonable amount of time. If I'm missing more than half the season fuck it)
