High North’s official announcement on glacier conditions March 28, 05

Until Mid March, Whistler Blackcomb, along with the entire Pacific Northwest was experiencing it’s lowest snow year on record. At the beginning of March we were starting to wonder if we were going to have enough snow to last into July. We were thinking seriously about whether or not we should just postpone the camp until 2006, just to play it safe. Fortunately it started dumping in Whistler a couple of weeks ago and we have received over 4 feet of snow on the mountain which has helped the situation greatly. Last week I went probing around on the glacier and was surprised to discover over 12 feet of base at all elevations of the High North park. The forecast is for more snow to fall throughout the week.

This has given us the confidence to confirm to everyone that High North will definitely be running for it’s 8th summer and we guarantee to provide you with a sick park with as many jumps as ever, an expanded rail park and hopefully the return of the famous quarter pipe. The only change to operations that Whistler / Blackcomb has informed us of is that they will not be building a half pipe this summer in order to conserve snow. This will ensure that the High North jib park will have a lot more snow than regular seasons and will be off the hook!

If you have any questions about the condition of the glacier just go to highnorthskicamp.com for snow updates. You can also call our office to register, ask questions or request a free High North DVD (while quantities last).

I hope you’ve all had a ripping season and I hope to see you this summer.
