Registration begins for the 1st edition of the Orage European Open 2006. Monday February 20th kicks off the registration period for the 2006 Orage European Open Laax. You have until Wednesday, March 8th to register. You can enter in Slopestyle, Superpipe or both. Registration is possible ONLINE ONLY using this Registration Form on: http://www387.ws7.inname.net or in the events section of http://www.laax.com. All athletes registering must be 14yrs or older at time of competition (must be born before March 22nd, 1992). This event is open to pros and amateurs alike, men and women. The Orage European Freeski Open in Laax has 80 open spots available on the start list for Men in Superpipe and Slopestyle, plus 20 open spots for Women in Superpipe and Slopestyle. If more athletes register in a discipline than start places are available, a random computerized draw will determine the athletes who will get a spot. Qualification runs are open to all skiers. In the end the best riders will compete for a grand prize of $50,000 USD. The start list will be finalized and published Thursday March 9th, 2006. Probably the biggest gathering of comp skiers and snowboarders on the planet, the Laax Open went down this weekend, and the final event was Ski Slopestyle.
With some absolutely mental entries, it was a tough job for our Team Auclair judges and NS staff to cut these down to five in each category. Great work to all who entered and see you next year!
